After reading this thread, I have to throw my 2 cents in. Obviously none of us were there to confirm or deny this guys claim of being treated direspectfully by Keith. However, I have had Keith work on my guitars many, many times and he ALWAYS has been friendly, professional, and thorough with the work he has done. Keith was working on my guitars back in the day when he and his business partner Ron bought Torres Guitars in Saratoga. They have done several set ups, fret levels, fixed a broken headstock on an Explorer, built me a guitar, sold me 2 beautiful Rickies, and have given me lots of professional advice. Keith is a stand-up guy who takes pride in his work and does it without a lot of ego. Part of the problem is that people tell the tech what they want done instead of getting their professional opinion. It's like going to the doctor and telling him that you want brain surgery without telling him what the problem is. It looks to me like that's what this guy did. Walked in and told Keith what he wanted done instead of telling Keith what he would like the guitar to play like and letting Keith, the professional, tell him what should be done to fix it, imho.

gilroy represent.

I agree entirely and this was the experience I had at first. Very professional, understanding and stand-up. I did not know the problem with my guitar exactly, although I suspected a fret level, and I took the guitar to their shop. They proceeded to diagnose the problem and told me what should be done. I obliged. I was super nice, it was fun, and I chatted with the employees for an hour about guitar gear.

That was the beginning, now I have gone through a lot, and spent a lot of time with this problem and Keith did nothing for me.

I have no reason to lie in this situation. I don't gain or lose anything from it. Keith does have something to lose. I simply felt so SO horrible inside from the occurrences at his shop that I had to post something on the internet to protect you. YES YOU. even though you've been there 10 times. DON'T GO BACK. Keith doesn't work on the guitars, his apprentices do. And like I've said before, I'm sure if Keith had done the work himself, it would have worked out. And obviously, you have had no problem with work done on your gear, but if you did, you might be met by an unpleasant party in Keith Holland. Maybe it was a bad day? Twice. Maybe for him, I'm that person you just hate right when you see them!

But paying $175 for someone who doesn't know what their doing, to file metal parts on your guitar is like playing russian roulette with your fretboard. Don't do it.

Youre lieing again...

I know that you can't see it because you ego is so huge but what you have to lose is this argument and with it, your self esteem. Unfortunately, both are in tatters already and youre looking more and more like an immature asshole, out to besmirch someone elses reputation and damage thier business for no good reason.

Try this...

Get off the forum for a few days, play your guitar some, lick your wounds, watch some porn on your computer and then either fix your guitar yourself (Youre an expert, right?) or find someone whom you respect to do it for you.

Oh yeah... And quit whining!

Why didn't this Keith guy post his own replies, he says he joind the forum but there was some period that he couldn't post....nonsense, you can post immediately.

He could have represented himself better if he had fronted up himself, my instincts say that both parties beheved lss that correctly, but I still find myself with more sympathy for Foulacy

1. The notes I played in the video all sound find, with the exception of the 2 notes on the high E string.

2. How do you not know about Ibanez Prestige guitars and have 4,000 posts on a guitar forum?

3. Truss rod relief effects the area of frets between 1-2ish to 12th-ish depending on the guitar. Why would I not loosen the truss rod to get rid of buzz on lower frets? Are you stupid?

4. You measure action to the 10th of a mm. Again, are you stupid? Also, I'll link you to a page that can not be disputed,
http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/action.htm

I measured it at the 12th for all the "12th fret guys," and it's 2.5mm on the low E, which is anything but low.

I don't act fake ever, I'm always honest. Thanks for the insults by the way, that might be your only argument since I just destroyed you.

If you know that much about guitars why are you taking yours in? Doesn't make any sense to me. Me thinks your posting stuff you just found out about on the web and really don't know jack. But hey thats just me.:thu:

Lots of people who are competent at setting up a guitar and identifying a problem with fret height are reluctant to pick up a file and start hacking away at it.

:D

i believe i was addressing the OP's argument throughout this thread.

you're in NYC, where do you take your guitars? i've got an Explorer i want to put a Fernandes Sustainer into and it needs to be routed and wired.

I'll PM ya! I don't want to lose the drama of this thread. It's frickin' riveting. Oh, I agree with you totally regarding the OP.

Keiths side.....

I am always very clear with customers that I want their guitar to be perfect and I want it back here if not. This individual had some problems with this guitar that I was more than willing to help with without additional cost to him, but was not receptive to my input or willing to allow me to make simple adjustments that I thought would help. Instead, he demanded (his word) that the entire job be done over. Eventually, we came to the agreement that he would give it a few days to decide if we should make the small changes that I thought could help. Eventually, upon his 3rd trip back, he belligerently and demeaningly demanded that the work be done over. I relented, with the stipulation that he not return again, with any more problems with this instrument or any others. He blew his stack, insulted all of us, grabbed his instrument and left. Before he walked out, I asked him not to return. He never did ask for his money back.

Sincerely

Keith Holland

This part of Keiths response I quoted pretty much says it all.....

They could not agree on what was needed to be done in order to fix the issues the guitar had and evetually Keith told him not to come back to the store. On top of that he kept the dudes money.
