Members alexsong
Opinions? Does it need mods? Is it noisy? Should I go for the Custom Comp or the Whirlwind Red Box instead?
Members Cirrus
I had one for about 3 weeks. It was noisy. It was overly squishyIt kept on pumping throughout the release - getting louder and quieterIt sounded "ragged" - kinda nasty and not at all transparent. Great compressor, but wasn't for me.

A noisy compressor? Hmm... so did it add more noise to your signal (generating new noise) or did it just "compress" the signal and raise the level of the existing noise? And if needed there's also an MXR CustomShop "Script" Dyna Comp version available. Of corpse it costs more but...

Members Elessar [Sly]
It's alright. I got the Biyang Compress X which is the same thing with bugs ironed out. They made it true bypass as well. Pretty cool little compressor! But selling it now because it's christmas and I've spent way too much on gear in the last 2 months. Members bieke
I used to have a Block Logo RI and a vintage Script DynaCompthe reissue was quieter, the vintage one was noisy with the output past 2 o'clocksensitivity past 2 o'clock made both sound very squishy, with a lot of "oomph", worked great with distortion, made it sound really tightfor clean sounds, it works charmingly if you keep the volume at around unity gain and sensitivity at around 10 o'clock, for a more subtle compressionsounds better with single coils imo, it sounds fantastic with Rickenbackersgreat for clean picking, country, funk lok into the SuperComp as well, it has attack level control, this allows to finetune the "oomph" pumping phenomenon. Members renula
I got a dynacomp. It arrived yesterday. This weekend I'll either be in love with it or not...

Hmm... so did it add more noise to your signal (generating new noise) or did it just "compress" the signal and raise the level of the existing noise? It added new noise. But it's the kind of thing that'd probably change between individual dynacomps - luck of the draw.

Members RadioSilence
I did try it alongside a CS-3 and that was incredibly hissy. Maybe it looked good by comparison but I used it plenty and don't remember any noise really.
