Members dmhi11
Used to have an sm7 years ago and it had this muscular low end that is a rare find. Does the Suhr riot have the same low end?

Members dmhi11
I know these pedals are not related just wondering about bass response really. Been looking at clips of the suhr and it sounds awesome but sometimes low end doesn't come through real good in clips.

Members HopeStreet
he figures it's more middy.
Members Frankenstrat86
Riot is made for a med- high gain cranked sorta sound. The toggle is the middle frequency you want to emphasize. So you can get the low mids to give it a nice sound but it'll be tight not a flubby low end.
Members misterstomach
i've never had an sm7, but i did own a riot. it's fairly amp interactive, so that's going to affect things quite a bit, but i would not say it's a pedal geared towards thundering low end. it's more of a marshall style mid range almost hair metal kind of distortion. it's a {censored}ing killer pedal, but it might not be what you're looking for. Members thom
^I'm gonna have to second that... For me, the Riot lacked just low end. Imo it's more in the middsy crunchy hot rodded marshall territory. Nice for leads, especially with the right amp. But pricey for what it does impo, nothing ground breaking even if you're into 80s hair metal, or whatever the target market for the riot is. Members Harry_Manback1
Third'd. The Riot screamed 80s with my rig. Not much low end to be had.

Members dmhi11
Still interested. A used sm7 is like $40.00 so it might be worth it to just get both.
Members Harry_Manback1
The Wampler Super Plex is similar but with bass control, fwiw.
Members hugbot
If you liked the SM7 best off finding that. Marshall Jackhammer has probably the stupidest lows of any pedal I've ever owned.
Members dmhi11
I'm torn. I like the idea of mix and match distortions through a good clean amp but part of me is saying just buy a new high gain amp.
Members Frankenstrat86
I'd go amp and a good boost pedal personally.

I've never found that it lacks, or limits the low end, just that it doesn't add any. Still can get good thump, but with great mid definition. Members ben_allison
Riot has natural, grungy quality that I've never ward elsewhere... except in my Uproar clone! But the actual Riot still had a slight edge on my clone. It really is special.

Members Johansolo
i wouldnt associate the riot with low end. it reminds me more of the crunchbox... me and my other guitarist used to gig a smashbox...til we got 5150s...
