Members veracohr
I just put up a math book for sale on Amazon.com that I don't need anymore, and since it turned out to be so easy I thought, "hey, I might as well put my album here". Not that anyone will buy it, but at least so that it is available somewhere and there is a remote chance someone will actually pay for it. But the really weird thing is that someone beat me to it. Some big seller with a whole bunch of CDs in their catalog is selling my album used for $12.99. Geez, no one would buy it when I had it for $6, let alone 12.99! It's really weird, because aside from a very few copies that I handed out randomly, the only people who have it are people I know personally and gave it to. I guess someone got rid of it and this company got ahold of it somehow. It was really weird seeing it there.
Members Mr. Donovan
This means you could offer your album for $11.99, and have it personally signed by the artist.

Members egelmett
I've gone into a used CD shop and found one of my old band's CDs for sale...second hand. Yes, it's odd to find your music arguably "discarded". Who knows how it got there.
Members Richard King
I found an album (vinyl type) that I engineered in 1978 on Ebay a couple of years ago. The funny thing about this is that the band said they were just doing a demo tape. I gave them the master (after it was paid for) and they had it pressed. I ended up buying it because I never had a copy of the actual vinyl. They even credited me as engineer.
Members Ernest Buckley
I think if I found a copy of my CD used/discarded and for re-sale, I would have to buy it back. Especially if its in a shop! I would also ask the store to get more of this artist!
Members UstadKhanAli
The first time I ever found one of my CDs in the used bin in a record store, I was a little bummed out. But since I found quite a few of my CDs in the used bin after that, I got used to it!! My CDs are on Amazon.com and a bunch of other places, new and used. Phil O'Keefe
Don't feel too bad guys - I've bought things like Matthew Sweet albums in used bins before, so people will get rid of anything; some people apparently have no taste.

And even MORE likely, they ripped it to MP3s or burned it first, then got what they could for the original. So it being for resale doesn't indicate they disliked it. Around here, people will trade in anything at a place called "Cheapo's" which is a used CD place. Trade in a bunch you don't want for a few you do. One day one of my coworkers came to me and said, "Hey, aren't you in a band called The Hoglegs? I bought your CD at Cheapo's for 50 cents, here, you can have it!" Now that was passing weird as we didn't have a CD out. Turned out it was a burned CDR demo we used to get gigs. Just three songs on it and no case or tray card. I guess the clubowners use Cheapo's to get rid of their huge pile of demo CDs, or else one of my lowlife bandmates sold it for some crack money. Terry D. Members Jeff da Weasel
You'll have to ask Billster about the "Best of White Lion" cassette he once purchased to learn a song for a gig. Turned out, very appropriately, to be a blank tape.
Members veracohr
Psssst! They don't really have it! Try buying it and see. Terry D. P.S. I'm in the same boat. I'm not so sure. The image of the album cover doesn't look like it was just downloaded from somewhere. You can clearly see marks on it, from the little half-circle tabs that keep the insert in the case, as well as what looks like a little something was spilled on it. Another somewhat strange thing is that I found a surprisingly large number of songs on Amazon named "Anamnesis". I guess it really is hard to be original with song titles. I wouldn't have imagined that was a very common word.
Members philbo
I worked FOH for a band in the '70s called The Daily Planet in Davenport IA - - They pressed a vinyl album which sold pretty well locally. Anyway, about 2 years ago a friend called me & said he found a copy of it in a used record store in Chicago, in the 'super-rare-find' bin for $45!! I called the drummer (we still keep in touch) & he was amazed. He said, "Man, if I could get $45 each, I'd sell off the 500 copies still out in the garage!" Did a quick web search - - It's STILL available, but now for even more!http://www.netsoundsmusic.com/nsdsii/2/336641493/1/1/Daily%20Planet|No%20Time%20To%20Lose/1/Daily%20Planet/1/1/9999.html

I have seen absolute classics in used bins. I'm assuming somebody got the remaster or whatever. What scares me is the people who actually didn't good taste. Members the stranger
Every post in this thread starts [or close to it, most do after some gibberish] with a pronoun. Mostly "I". I've seen scores of metal/*core/underground that bands distro on Ebay. Using other bands names as search terms.

Members tradivoro1
I actually made some money from mp3.com, but the funniest thing was that I got two emails from two different people who got married to one of my tunes... One was writing to me for score parts for the musicians... They used it as the march for their wedding... That's what mastercard would call priceless... The sum total earnings of my career. I have my first $100 check from CDBaby framed in my studio. Well, actually, I just have a color copy of it framed. I'm way too cheap to not cash a $100 check. But actually that check is worth thousands of dollars. In Texas, one does not pay sales tax on any electrical item (guitars, recorders, computers, video cameras) used to produce sound or video recordings for sale. The CDBaby check constitutes proof that all the thousands of dollars I saved on sales tax was legitimate. Terry D.
