Members alfonso
Decaf is never completely caffeine free, it still has a small amount. But some times you can have some "paradox effects"....drinking coffee is associated in your brain with an exciting effect. We often have reactions not only to the stimula but also to the mental anticipation of them, like the famous dog that starts drooling if he just hears the sound of the pet food box....paradoxically, if the amount of the effective drug is much less than usual you can have an even stronger effect as the brain starts to regulate the hormones straight on by itself. I've experimented this in the evening...I always like to drink some coffee after a meal but I decided to use decaf in the evening...well there is no substantial difference with a regular one. Another surprising effect with coffee...there are sometimes, like a post gig full night party where you go back home so much tired that you're not able to relax and sleep. To stay awake you have produced too much adrenalin which is still keeping you awake....well, the best thing to do is to have an half cup of hot coffee, which will give you a sense of wellness that will stop the adrenalin production and, surprisingly, will help you relax in half an hour, making you sleep. Members blue2blue
Honestly, that couldn't have been decaf. I feel way too caffeinated. First, they should call it reduced caffeine, not decaffeinated, since the latter seems to lead people to believe there's no caffeine, which is pretty much never the case for actual coffee. Mainstream decafs have tended to run between 33% to as much as 50%, from my reading. But I have heard that there are some processes that can get it down somewhat farther. When you consider that some folks drink decaf as though it was caffeine-free, it's easy to see how problematic that misunderstanding can be. (And, for a while in the 70s, that naive decaf consumer was [hangs head] me. I couldn't figure it out and just went back to regular coffee. Years later I found out why. Of course, this was all before the internet.)
Members D Charles
I just have loads of cups of regular coffee, but I mix it really weak. If I have coffee in a restaurant, two cups and I'm bouncing off the walls. My coffee I can drink all morning, maybe 8 or 10 cups and never get the jitters. 1 & 1/2 to two level scoops of coffee to a 12 cup maker works for me. Dudddits, best stick with water and for a real treat, try evaporated milk!
