I use it for rock and the various forms of metal - old school to semi-brutal stuff. Wow! I dig that!
2. So far, the tally is, NO ONE that has reported in this thread as having seen it has said it wasn't worthwhile. If you haven't seen it, all you can do is talk about why you "think" it might suck. Isn't that pretty much what everything is like on this forum? Just replace the word "seen" with "played" or "heard" and it's this place in a nutshell.
3. Ya know, I just like his music. I could care less about whether he has a signature guitar or not.
4. Ummm...not to be a dick or anything but.....awww what the heck, I guess I'm a dick....why would you buy something with so distinctive a sound as a Tele and then decide you want to slap a HB in it? I don't think you're going to get the same sound with tapped HB as you would from the regular Tele bridge single. As I understand it, they wind those things to sound "that way". That in conjunction with the metal bridge plate and overall genius design of Leo is what creates the "twang".
5. Ya know, he looks healthy, he sounds good, and he looks like he's having fun. If you had asked me five or six years ago I woulda' said he'd be dead by now. Good for him. Yeah, I didn't dig everything in that solo. But parts of it I thought were amazing. Like I said, good for him.
6. I won't read through this whole thread but I assume somebody has said it already.... I think the whole idea of it is stupid.
7. I'd say if you have whatever pedals you use going into a nice tube pre-amp, then what comes out and into the PA should sound pretty good. Then it all depends on how well the sound guy mixes.
8. Just out of curiousity, what do you people plan on doing when you're old and wrinkly and realize the stupid metal tattoo you got is {censored}ing stupid Maybe they'll console themselves knowing that you'll be old and still listening to {censored}ing stupid Terrapin Station.
9. Nope, it doesn't, but all the racist {censored} he DID say sure makes him a racist. I can't believe this thread is still going! Don't you {censored}in' idiots understand? HE'S JOKING! HE ISN'T SERIOUS! The only reason his humor in this case is off is because he underestimated the intelligence of the general public. It's like the people who didn't understand that Archie Bunker was a joke. They didn't get it. And anybody who is offended by what Mayer said IS JUST TOO {censored}IN' STUPID TO UNDERSTAND THAT HE'S JOKING!!!!! Seriously, is it now part of political correctness to not joke around in a manner that stupid people will mis-interpret? GET THE {censored} OVER THIS YOU MORONS!
10. Cool guitar too. Interesting that Gretsch went with Semour Duncan for the Dynasonics instead of TV Jones. Also, I wasn't entirely clear about how the Billy Zoom Silver Jet is wired. Is the issued guitar done the way Billy likes 'em or is that just the ones they made for him specifically.
11. You should see my tweets on twitter. They are {censored}ing out of this world! I have no desire to see your tweets. I think that would be indecent exposure.
12. http://refuge.zaadz.com So, this guy ^^^^ has a problem with John Mayer's ego?
13. I think this should clear things up nicely. I think the guy is pretty funny.
14. How the {censored} is it that people can read this and NOT understand that he's joking around? OF COURSE he's not serious! Some people need to go to remedial sense-of-humor class. I hate to repeat myself but....please keep reading above^^^^over and over again until understood. THE GUY IS JOKING! THESE ARE THE JOKES PEOPLE! Anybody who actually thinks the guy is serious about what he said in this interview is a complete {censored}in' moron! If you see the guy interviewed you'll see he has a very sarcastic sense of humor where he basically makes fun of himself as "egotistical rock star".

16. When I was a kid I self-taught myself to anchor. I even had someone give me lessons for a while who didn't make an issue of it. Then I took some serious lessons in my late 20s and early 30s and the first thing my teacher did was to break me of the habit. It really is a lot better, IMHO, not to anchor. It frees you up for a lot more in the way of technique.
17. I don't think you have to. Depends on what style you're interested in. If it doesn't come into play, so to speak, then you don't need it. For me, I got into Travis picking. I could already do a certain amount of finger picking (I use a hybrid grip) but I wanted to learn that bass/lead counterpoint stuff. But if it's not your thing why learn it?
18. In a band situation, I can't think of a more crucial skill than a good sense of rhythm; to me, it's more important than speed, licks, or even tone. If you can't play in the pocket when you need to (and play out of it when it's right for the song) it doesn't much matter what else you can do. +1 And heck, even if you're playing by yourself it's crucial that you are able to convey a good feel for rhythm, timing, phrasing or what have you. Otherwise it all just sounds like mechanical strumming and aimless noodling.
19. I caught the end of a nice little documentary on them recently. Wish I'd seen the whole thing. Very talented bunch of guys. Guitar playing is great. I like 'em.
20. I don't know much about playing guitar but I do know about getting old. I turned 64 a few months ago. My mind never got far past 17 so I've never worried much about aging. Forty ain't nothing, that was 24 years ago for me. I have found that as I get older I really care less and less about what other people think. I'm not worried about impressing anybody. I think that it is expected that we get a little strange when we get old. I really don't notice much difference except when I look in the mirror or try to do something and find that some body parts aren't as smoothly functional as they were a few years ago. That and it's getting harder to pick up young chicks. Screw 'em, do what you want to do. You deserve to enjoy life. As long as you aren't hurting someone else they got no right to bitch. The alternative to getting old ain't good. Rock on! Sensei.
21. Fat {censored}ers...but they really put on a pro show. Hmmm.... I'm thinkin' Old Fat {censored}ers is a good name for a band. Anyway, @ Engl Kramer- I caught a sight of myself reflected in the window last night. I'm 46, short, bald, dumpy....and I wasn't even playing a pointy guitar, just a good ol' Strat and I sure thought I looked silly. But as others here have said, {censored} it. Enjoy playing. Who gives a {censored} what anybody else thinks. I wouldn't want to go to my grave saying: "Well, I sure behaved age-appropriately and was dignified." When what I really would have wanted was to rock out with m' cock out. You only live once (at least that we know for sure).
22. Hey man, I'm 55 and I still rock the house with regularity... So, you're taking your Metamucil then?
