Members itieu
Total bull{censored} hype as far as im concerned. Ed Roman endorsing them is just another nail in that "no thanks" coffin. It's pocket change for guys like The reverend, i'd bet he doesnt pay that much for a set if he pays anything at all. This just goes to show how musicians can get caught up in the tone quest to extremes. I totally agree with the "diminishing returns" statement. Members Armitage
If you want pickups that sound exactly like 2 $2,000 pickups, maybe $900 for a pair is a deal.
Members itieu
I dont think any set of pickups is worth 900 let alone 2 k I dont care who made them or how old they are. I can see paying big bucks for originals to restore a old guitar but I'd be real surprised if most players could tell the difference if they werent told what the pups are before playing them. Members Furtive
who the heck is THom Holmes and why do his pickups cost $900?edit:"Holmes is.... an amateur paleontologist and author of over 20 books about evolution, dinosaurs, and other prehistoric life "Oh that makes sense There is no greater vintage than Cambrian-era humbuckers. Members p4vl
There is no greater vintage than Cambrian-era humbuckers. Pfft, you should hear the Pre-Cambrian humbuckers. I dove into Mariana's Trench to get a piece of the rock that the magnets came from. Only $1000.
Members Flogger59
I guarantee you that the 6 pairs of BG-Pups you could buy with that money would each blow the snot out of those Tom Holmes pickups. Yeah, but where would you fit them all in? I think Tufnel pushed the envelope with 4, but 12?
Members lowbrow
If I was a, say, Billy Gibbons...with that commensurate level of talent and income...sure, I'd go for it. I'm not, so I won't. They'd be totally lost on someone like me.
Members Virgman
In the video all the settings sound pretty much the same to me, bridge, neck, middle. But I'm tone deaf...
