Members Folky_Grunge
The thing about that that's worse than chopping up a Les Paul is what he does it for. He messes up a good guitar, so he can take the neck and use his own body on it. Realistically, he doesn't need a Gibson neck for that (especially since he bashes them frequently); the only only reason he would be using a Gibson neck would be to charge more money for his guitars, and that's highly unethical. Members Crunchtime
Well, he does say that is the only way he can get a Gibson neck. OT- I saw a deal on Joe Perry on TV. It showed inside his house. The uprights on his staircase are made of real, unused Gibson necks.
Members TelesRock
I think they look and sound better after the conversion.

Members normh
In the video, Roman did say that the customer wanted a new body. He gave the customer what the customer wanted and paid for. What is unethical about that?

Moderators The Eristic Posted June 19, 2009 Moderators Share Posted June 19, 2009 "Les Pauls are clunky because...playings styles had not evolved...nobody ever played above the 12th fret...blah blah blah." Wait, who was the guitar designed for and named after again?
Members w00dsy
surely he owns a sleazy porn company now. He has the look down. No wait he's comic book store guy from the Simpsons.

Members cavpilot
So he made a Washburn Idol out of a Gibson Les Paul. What a douche. I'll bet he could turn a Ferrari into a Pontiac Fiero too.

Members caveman
Come on, give old Ed a break. Somebody stole his Lucky Charms and he had to give up the leprechaun business. It warped his brain and now shows in his more recent endeavors.

Members Aahzz
As much as I'm not a fan of Ed Roman, I was a frequent East Coast Music Mall customer back in the day. To be fair, I never saw him sell one of his "conversions" as a Gibson - he was, at the time, always up fron about what they were. He still screwed me on my first PRS, and I think he's a douche, but I can't say he tried to pass those off as real Gibsons.
Members mrbrown49
I rarely hear positive things about this guy. Most comments about him say he's nuts and has questionable business ethics. I've seen very little to convince me otherwise.

Members Aahzz
Seriously? Details? It was 94 or 95, I was young and didn't know better. They had a price match policy, I found some PRS Customs at lower prices, he refused to honor the policy. I was too invested in the exact guitar he had to walk away, and he talked an extremely good line to the uninformed. Ended up buying the guitar and an extended warranty (for less than his marked price, but more than the price I'd found elsewhere), took the guitar back in for the "free" setup, they did it and told me it needed a fret level, that wasn't covered, on a 2-week old new PRS. It wasn't a complete buttrape, but it wasn't a good experience either.
