Members bdegrande
The Eleventh House, Larry Coryell's fusion band, is the best thing I've heard in that genre. Also, Return to Forever and Weather Report

Members dcindc
Go buy Pat Metheny's Off Ramp.http://www.amazon.com/Offramp/dp/B000V6MTFM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1251391428&sr=8-2I seriously think it trumps alot of what is posted here. It is in the fusion style but doesn't come off as being so pretentious as some of the others. And it's very polished for the style. This album is my number one pick for "Music to Boff By"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55uF_GXxIWI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SS9bYhtA9MThis one even got airplay back in the day, maybe you've already heard it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGmaxoRHk-
Members Karma1
I was a huge fan of Mahavishnu and saw the original line up in concert four times. I still have the ticket stub from the first time I saw them in Philadelphia -price of admission $5 !!! Those were the good old days. Most of the recomendations I would make for other groups have already been listed. However, here's a few more:-Frank Gambale-Scott Henderson & Tribal Tech-Neal Schon's "Electric World" - a double instrumental CD with some awesome well known fusion players like Alphonso Johnson and others.-David Sancious - most known as the keyboardist for Springsteen, but had some great solo fusion albums back in the 70's - especially "Forest Of Feelings".-Passport - German group similar to Weather Report
Members jerry_picker
I haven't thought about this for awhile, but there were actually a lot of virtuoso level fusion acts.
