Members Coolie No.1
I am looking for a shred guitar with the following specs. Must:1) Bolt on / Superstrat style2) 22 Jumbo frets 3) At least 12" Fretboard Radius4) Neck thickness at least a fender modern "C"5) Must come stock with quality passive pickups from Seymour Duncan / Dimarzio and such. My personal fav is JB/59, but Can go for some variation. EDIt: Sorry forgot MUST be FIXED bridge. Optional:Locking Tuners, Coil tapping, Plain color. So what is available? Keep it to $1000 new or used. I have one now with most of the specs above, but I hate the thin neck.
Members DaveAronow
Dont the New Charvelles have most of these specs? Because for around 1000.00 there isnt even another shredder I would even consider buying right now as long as these exist.
Members jhorne
New Charvel will get you there. Sticker is $1099, but you should have no problem getting one for $850 or less out the door with minimal effort.
Members soliloquy
i would have suggested ibanez or jackson, but the neck isn't a modern C neck. the jackson would be closer to what you're looking for, but with 24 frets for their Dinky guitars. also, the pickups can be changed regardless of what they are. but bolt on with that neck is kinda hard to do unless you go for anything by Musicman or peavey wolfgang or HP line. though the musicman would be a bit more expensive than a grand. and the peavey would vary from 500-1500 dollars for the exact same guitar. used market sucks for peavey. maybe an Edwards Snapper? for under a grand though, you could always get a custom carvin that is neckthru and with whatever features you want on it. Members dres_x
Haha I've been looking at getting a Charvel lately...and after reading your post I was thinking "wow a Charvel matches perfectly!"...then I scroll down and see everyone saying the same thing...haha
Members 1esotericguy
BC Rich Gunslinger Retro Blade is under $600 New. Great guitar. Washburn N4 Used. You'll have to lie in wait for a used one to pop up under $1000. They do come up though. Probably 1 a month comes up under a grand on Ebay. Members Griffin
Does it have to have a Floyd? If not, these are awesome: http://www.atomicguitarworks.com/Atomic_Custom_Guitars.html

Yeah, I agree the Charvels are a good idea, and I did get exactly that as a quote once from Sweetwater. Now I do a lot of biz with them, but with some competitive bid pressure and a phone call, I'd imagine most anyone could get that price. For a brief moment that had a few of them down on special price to $600-something.
Members mr.rs
Everything you want with more options than you thought possible from a Carvin Bolt...except the pickups. They ship with theirs only. 12' radius standard with 14 optional, stainless steel jumbo frets, locking tuners standard, and less than $800-900. http://www.carvinguitars.com/catalog/guitars/index.php?model=boltplus
Members soliloquy
wait, why not just go for a Carvin bolt then? custom guitar would get you around 800ish or so.
Members jonny guitar
Lol...my first thoughts were also Carvin Bolt and Charvel. Between the two I would take the Carvin because they are great playing guitars and you can get it exactly like you want it.

I hope to god one of you bought it, that is a smokin deal. heres the link i think: http://shop.dextermusiccenter.com/product_info.php?products_id=6726 I own a SoCal model, with another san dimas model 1 coming in soon. here's some socal porn:
Members MonSTeR
The Washburn N4, Ibanez JS1000 and the saucy Charvels mentioned above all fit the bill.
Members RaVenCAD
A Charvel or a Carvin C66 would be great for this.. Given a choice, I think I'd go with the Carvin for several reasons.. 1 - No options at all on Charvels. Great guitars, but you takes what you gets.2 - Ebony fretboard - Current Charvels only have maple.3 - Real Floyd instead of the MIK version.4 - Recessed Floyd - Cuz that's how I roll!5 - Pickups - most of the people that don't like Carvin pups have never even tried them. I was convinced I'd be swapping mine out the same day they got here, but I loved em. YMMV, but that's how it worked out for me..
Members StevePage
Carvin. If not, order a Warmoth neck and body to your specs. I recently got a new neck from Warmoth because I wanted a flatter radius neck for my Strat. Great stuff.

I dont even own a carvin and already think about "i'd have to swap pups out...". I dunno why, maybe i'm turned off by the look. but if i ever do buy one (would be a CT6 most likely) i will have to listen with an unprejudiced ear and decide honestly. BTW, latest charvel batch has a rosewood option. I would love to see ebony out in next batch though. i lurrves me some ebony!

Plus, they're covered, so they look cool. I don't mind the 12 poles much, but some people do. Honestly, since I got into Carvin, I now think 6 poles look kind of silly. And sweet on the rosewood option. Now if they'd just go back to the pointy headstock and the dinky bodies, all would be right in the Charvel world! Members RaVenCAD
And now I see the OP wants a fixed bridge.. Carvin offers fixed bridges, but damn.. Why bother? Putting a fixed bridge on a super strat is like putting training wheels on a Harley..
