Members elsupermanny14
So tell me more about P90 pickups. How do they sound compared to single coils? compared to humbuckers? How clean can they sound and how heavy can they go? What styles of music are they best suited for? Don't know a whole lot about P90s and have never had the inclination to play them until now. The most versatile guitar I have is an Epiphone Elitist Casino with the Gibson P90's. Fantastic for anything short of modern metal. They'll do metal, just not the battery powered metal. Members Spike Li
P90s are great- in fact, if they were humcancelling they would be the perfect bridge pup IMO (I cant go past the sound of a humbucker in the neck ). They are immensely versatile, being a big fat single coil it is pretty much they best of both worlds, and are pretty high output too. Can do anything and everything IMO. Members guitarlady
George Thorogood uses them in his guitar. Perhaps this video might give a comparison between the sound of his P90 ES-125 and the Tele of the Ice Man
Members curseoftruth
Leslie West used them, Tom Sholtz from Boston used them in the early days, David Gilmore used them from time to time, and for modern heavy music, look no further than Pepper Keenan in Down. Very versatile pups. I'm Gassing for another P90 guitar myself.
