I paid $450 for a used EC-1000, traded the EC for the RG and have been wanting to trade the RG for a Les Paul type guitar for awhile and this has been the best offer I have gotten so far. I like the playability of the RG but the trem just isn't for me at all. The LP has quite a bit more damage than my RG but nothing to bad. So ultimately what I'm asking is should I go through with this trade and why?

Also could someone estimate the worth of each guitar?

In 1996 I sold my RG and got a black studio. Never looked back. Used the studio for my gigging days of 6 plus years. It is a dinged up warhorse.

The RG with that trem was not a fun beginner guitar. Fourteen years later I have not even so much as picked up a anthor guitar with a floyd even at a shop. Though I'm starting to get curious again. For some reason those slime green charvels have gotten under my skin.

But it depends on the type of music you play and what your needs are. If there's been a neck crack repair on the studio it should be less.

Trade. But those are two very different guitars...seems like you have the LP gas and that looks like a suitable remedy.

I have always liked ibanez shredders but find myself gravitating toward gibbys and other 24.75 scale/fixed bridge guitars now-a-days.

I actually like the gold hardware.

As for music styles, I play alot of classic rock, some bluesy type stuff, some metal and some stoner/sludge metal. I think the LP will better suit my styles. I'm no shredder.

There is no neck repairs on the LP. No cracks. Only thing it has is the paint chips and the worn hardware.

Right now I'm just going through different phases and want to try out as many different guitars as possible until I find what I like. The RG plays amazing but I don't like the trem and have found that I am strictly a hardtail guy. I understand they are two very different guitars, I just want to know if the trade is worth it. I have been trying to trade the RG for awhile with no luck. Noone seems interested in buying or trading for it.

If I could sell the RG for cash I know I'd have alot more options on a new guitar but like I said noone is interested in it and if they are they want to lowball.

Les Paul Studios are great guitars - just not as expensive as their big brothers.

Les Pauls are very versatile. I don't think you could go wrong with the trade.

If you consider that you have $450 invested and can turn that into Les Paul, it's a great deal.
