Inexplicable GAS for a telecaster

I got my first Tele a year ago. The white American Special.

I loved it so much I immediately ordered a '52 AVRI Butterscotch.

I picked up the midnight wine MIM Tele a couple months ago.

I'm mainly a Les Paul guy, but's very easy to make these single coils sound phat and warm with a Tubescreamer and a well dialed in amp.

Given the OP's fondness for P-90's, I'm amazed no one has mentioned this guitar:

Fender Jim Adkins Tele. Even if you're not a Jimmy Eat World fan, this is a gorgeous axe (Seymour Duncan P-90's are stock). It both jangles and roars. I tried one out in a local music store and my wife was saying, "Warning! Step away from the gorgeous Tele!"

Try out a Hot Rod 52 next time your in a shop. Crank it thrugh a 59 Bassman.

This.

That neck pickup is amazing--it can really fatten up the sound and is just pure butter through the right amp, like a Bassman. And the bridge pup is all Tele. You get a sweet tonal range with the HR52.

I have a Hwy1 Tele which I love, but if I were to get another, it would be the HR52. Good God, they sound sweet!

Your wife has a sense of humor about guitars? That's Awesome!!!

D

She plays bass so she has a (much milder) case of GAS. She's generally a Fender Jazz player but a MusicMan or an electric upright will get her drooling. She used to make fun of my "tone hound" tendencies until I replaced the pickups in her 5-string with DiMarzios for her birthday; she played it for 3 seconds and said, "Okay. I get it now."

We actually used to have "guitar porn" days where we'd go check out the used shops on the west side. Unfortunately, I came home with guitars a few times too often and now she's pushing for a "one-in-one-out policy". She did recently admit that my GAS is actually "not that bad"; that may change when she sees the latest addition.

As i've posted here ad nauseum, I put one together from parts (Warmoth, Lollar, Hipshot, RS etc.). Really top quality stuff. I love it. In fact, I'm concocting my next one which will have TV Jones Powertrons for a bit different spin. I think I'm gonna go thinline with a Powertron Plus and Powertron--maybe even a Bigsby.

Here's the one that I built:
