Members Dr. Scottie C
Educate me on what Telecaster type guitar, in terms of feel, and playability, that can be picked up (new or possibly used) for $300 or less, is an excellent value. I have strats & a killer Les Paul..... but I really need a Tele for some twang..... but I gotta keep it in that $300 range. Any suggestions? Members Tupelo Son
Feel a little funny admitting this, but since selling my '62 RI Tele, my Agile 630 is now my favorite.

Members GAS Man
The Squier Tele Custom II is a very versatile sounding guitar, well built and rugged. OR Starting at a $249.99 asking price, you could easily get 10% off of that. They are a little darker sounding than your typical Tele since the wood is more "mahogany-like" i.e. Agathis and also the P-90s are a fuller somewhat less bright tone than typical Tele pickups, but this guitar still will get some nice twang tone with both p'up on but can also rock and sound pretty smooth from the neck. Members mike42
Well, I'd go for the G&L Tribute too, although I'd be surprised if you could find many for 300 now. But I haven't looked lately.

Members voneville
I love my Custom II but it really doesn't sound very Tele ish. I don't think you can find a better playing Tele for the price though, especially if you like the fatter gibson necks (non slim taper).

Members MyEmergency
Used MIM would be my go, you can get them ranging from $200 to $350 depending on the year and condition, and if it comes with a case.

I really rate these guitars - I might end up getting one myself at some point. But they're not Telecasers really - more of a nice, cheap Gibsony-P90 affair. Members Brian Krashpad
Comparable at least to a used MIM but at probably considerably less cost would be a used Peavey Raptor. Made in USA, '90's: I have the sister model Predator Strat, and it's as good as my previous MIM Strats. Have not owned a Reactor but if anything they have a better rep than the Predators. Members JoeBoy
I own the blonde. Once I got it setup and got used to the neck, I fell in love. The Pups are not bad at all. The balance is good. It's a ton of fun for less than 3 Bens.I really rate these guitars - I might end up getting one myself at some point. Members webwarmiller
thanks for that link to headguitars on ebay. I just e-mailed them to see if they are set up to do La Cabronita Filtertron routing... I'd be shocked if Jeff doesn't already have it programed into the CNC. My Mahogany Strat body from him is almost done.....I waxed it with Briwax yesterday and installed all the electronics. I just need a football shaped jackplate for the edge of the body and some knobs and the body is done. I've got a Walnut tele on the way.....couldn't be happier with the product Jeff delivers. Here's a pic of it after the waxing and then one of it hanging from a neck that isn't even screwed on....the neck pocket is stupid tight.... Plan to veneer the headstock with mahogany this weekend....
Members JTEES4
Under $200 used...a Peavey EXP, they have a few different models. Even if you upgrade the pickups you can stay under $300 easily.
