I liked the clean sounds this guy is getting here at around 0:47 and 1:42

and Paul here tells me this is the best SE yet

The weights vary on them but this one was listed as 7lbs flat which I hope will be acoustically resonant but yet still with enough density to hit some of the sustain achieved above.

If you bought it with bill money then yes it was a dumb thing to do..To me there is no such thing as disposable money a better way of putting it is money not being used for other things..

If you bought it with this type of money then why not how much pleasure could you gain if you would have spent it on something else?

I know people who will piss away literally the type money that it cost to buy that guitar on one trip to the casino or a weekend of partying...

That guitar with proper care will give you a life time of enjoyment and then could be handed down to your children or others..So no not a dumb thing..

Thanks guys. I was able to get a fairly nice discount on it as well since I push as much of my GAS towards SW as I can when they carry the item, so it made it a bit easier for me to succumb to the evil temptations of GAS.

I'll resurrect the thread when it shows for some review and live pics. :thu:

Like someone else said, as long as you didn't use bill money to pay for it, and your SO doesn't object too badly, I don't see why it's stupid. Paul Reed Smith is making some incredible instruments these days.

The SE's are a great value. I've got a Tremonti and I love everything about it except the color (Platinium). Have a little GAS for the Orianthi; I know it's a "chick" guitar but still want one.

Only bad thing about the SE's is that they don't seem to hold value very well. I got my Tremonti for $200, and it was in perfect condition except for a tiny nick in the 12th fret, which buffed out nicely. Nice gig bag included.

I know what you mean about the Orianthi.

Of course it wouldn't be my first choice in a guitar, but as a GAS'r, I'd love to have that little sparkler around too ;)

Plus I noted before when I bought 4 SEs on sale (for as low as $359) at the end of 2009, that the Paul Allender model I got for my son ($409 on sale) had the best tone of the 3 of them since the pickups were wound to his specs (i.e. with his input). So I do think you do get a bit of a better "SE" with the sig models, or at least the p'ups are a bit better than the regular run p'ups.

And yes, from the sale values I posted above, I know that they won't be the best investments but I like the build of them so I figure they can make a nice every-day player that you can leave out with no worries.
