Members Smithshred
And that is the bottom line. It is like someone that complains that McDonald's screwed up their $0.99 cheeseburger. It is $0.99 for a reason. You can either deal with the way they do business to get your $0.99 cheeseburger or you can go somewhere else. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but my suggestion is if you don't like the way you are being treated or the deal you are getting, go somewhere else. I realize there can be snags and hassles in the process of getting M123 to honor their policy but it is my choice to deal with it or go somewhere else. Lately, I've decided to go other places for a myriad of reasons. Although, I just bought a Squier Jaguar HH for $130 and a BC Rich Mockingbird bass for $150 from (neck through classic series model that was priced at $699). You won't hear me complaining that I had to reply to them and call in on one occasion. I also am sitting on about 10 pricematches that are >50% off regular price. I also had an instance where they were claiming Best Buy wasn't an authorized dealer back in August when I was staring at Fender's site showing them as such and guided the CSR to that page where he stated he didn't see Best Buy and when I asked him to read what he saw, he started listing off every thing but Best Buy. After two CSR's I told them I was done. It wasn't worth it at that point. I do agree with you at what point does it become "not worth" as your time is more valuable than the hassle. However, at the same time, musiciansfriend and music123 aren't claiming to be providing the 99 cent cheeseburger within the instrument business. Rather, they both are trying to be the premier supplier of instruments. This isn't a "get what you pay for argument" this is an argument of receiving what is promised. MF and M123 can solve this very easily. They simply need to either honor their pricematches or refrain from offering one at all.
Members bjcarl
They simply need to either honor their pricematches or refrain from offering one at all. That's really the bottom line. I'd still shop at MF/M123 without the price match...but when they're trying to pull business away from the other guys by offering some pie in the sky guarantee, then they should damn well honor it...instead of sending lame BS replies like, "Amazon isn't an authorized Fender dealer, but we'd love to offer you 5% off your next purchase(only on certain brands)!" Co-incidence, or not? To be correct though, it would be CRM123 ignoring the thread, and not chbaker. chbaker has enough to deal with, with the MF 150% price guarantee GCs. Members Mr. Friendly
They waited about 24 hours on two of my price-matches from jr.com, waited until the guitars were no longer in stock and then refused to honor the PM. I don't think it was a coincidence.
Members WhatDoIKnow
Calling is the only way with M123. I have accepted it as a fact of life. They don't have your phone number red flagged like your email address. I explained that in another thread. Members Fusion1
my email is not red flagged. I just got 2 price matches recently. One for the Akai pedal (but after I already ordered from MF) and another for a Dimarzio pickup. Just as you can read from this thread, M123 will wait until item is no longer on sale or in stock before replying to the price match a good % of the time, noted by many people in this forum. They don't have your phone number red flagged like your email address. I explained that in another thread.

I don't think it was a coincidence. Happened to me too, except with the SG Standard deal at zZounds. That deal lingered for almost 3 days with the item in stock at the $665 price, but from the beginning they claimed the item was out of stock at zZounds even though it clearly wasn't. All my responses went ignored for 2 more days until a Supe finally responded with: "I do apologize for the delayed response. After looking closer at zzounds, they only have the heritage cherry in stock, not the ebony. They also advertise that guitar for $849.99. If there is anything else that we can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us." Well sure NOW it's out of stock. I really think they're hip to the fact that I really don't want to buy from them so they don't give a toss. But this is how it's all supposed to work: they effed with me, so I went somewhere else. But I bet if I had just called from the beginning I would have gotten the deal.
Members ihavenofish
why dont you just buy it from the place with the cheaper price?
Members bjcarl
Originally Posted by ihavenofish why dont you just buy it from the place with the cheaper price? I was trying to come up with a smartass response, but just so you don't have to re-read everything, including last and this month's deals thread: M123 and Musiciansfriend have price match policies that guarantee to go beyond simply matching a competitor's price...M123 guarantees to match the price PLUS 23% of the difference(123% price match)...so if you find a guitar elsewhere for $300 cheaper, they'll match it and drop another $69 off the price. Musiciansfriend is doing a 150% price match-matching the price plus an additional 50% in the form of gift cards-taking the same example above, they'd match the price plus send you $150 in gift cards(except they craftily changed their policy to a maximum of $100 in gift cards). For the drama/hassle that people have gone through trying to get M123 and MF to live up to their guarantees, you'll have to read the thread(s). Enjoy. Members *BLEEP*
What's funny as hell is reading where someone thinks they are getting a good deal by pitting price matches between MF and M123 and WWBW and GC.
Members wagdog
Just got the pricematch for the akai distortion pedal. Took several days, but they sent it. Hope I like it as much as the akai overdrive I just got.

Members MikeArta
I requested a PM on the 16th from Musicians Friend on the Epi LP Special P90 @ $89 from Guitar Center. A response finally arrived this morning informing me that item is now the same price ($129) @ GC as @ MF.I'll admit that it's a bit irritating. That said, MF is probably flooded with PM requests, given the Christmas season and the 150% Price Guarantee. One other quick point - My guess is that email price matches probably yield a lot lower percentage of actual purchases -- and hence less revenue -- than PMs requested over the phone. Were I in charge at MF/M123, my logic would be that when someone really wants an item, he/she will likely call if the email PM is slow in coming. As to the comments about intentionally ignoring price match requests for them to expire, I assure you this is not the case. Previously, the challenge was that our staff were getting a bunch that were huge discounts, and they were incorrectly sending them to management to respond instead of asking a manager and getting approval to do the price. We've made a huge push in correcting this behavior, and in talking with management today, we've seen a great improvement. With that being said, we are also wrapping up our two busiest weeks of the year, so there still may be a delay in our responses to an email you've sent in. While we try to respond to every email within 24 hours (we actually try to get at least a response letting you know we're looking into it within 2 hours), the volume of calls and emails we're getting can make that a challenge. If you have a time-sensitive request that you're still waiting on, feel free to send it to forums@musiciansfriend.com or webtalk@music123.com. We'v got our very best service specialists managing those accounts and will get you taken care of. Sincerely, Chris Baker Night Supervisor

Sincerely, Chris Baker Night Supervisor Not to pile on, in fact I think it's cool that you're taking the time to respond officially for M123; but I'm a day and a half with no response. I sent in a second price match request yesterday (the first the day before that) with no responses. I do think it would be nice if there was at a minimum an auto-generated "we got your request" message coming back like Zz does. Since I'm looking for a price match on a pedal that MF has offered at a very good price already, it does give the appearance that M123 is cherry picking items to respond on. When I sent in price match requests on more expensive items where there's still an obvious margin left in the deal for M123, then the responses have come quicker. A buddy of mine sent a request on that a couple days ago and they replied with a quote of $46, which obviously doesn't reflect the 123% price match. Depending on where your email goes to, it does kick an automatic email letting you know we received it. Unfortunately, the Music123 quoting functionality is on an old system, but general emails will do that. If you email webtalk@music123.com or PM me, I'd be happy to get your request resolved ASAP.
