Members xrleroyx
I'm not trolling you, I promise, but isn't this just reducing output? Killing all bass, volume and clarity from my guitar doesn't sound like a great option, at least to me. I do wanna see pics though!
Members Grant Harding
I'm not trolling, but what you're talking about is a total compromise from where I see it. This problem has been fixed... http://www.kinman.com/guitar-pickups/stratocaster/index.php
Members Grant Harding
That's a cool idea - a little cage for each pickup. So they sound great but just lack the noise? You may be onto something.
Members 1001gear
The reason oversheilding isn't done is it also raises capacitance. I could be wrong.Anyway, besides just switching to noiseless, raising the pickups to a nedium or higher orientation (guess what?) raises the output while the hum remains constant. That, seting the volume at 7 or lower. and facing the quietest direction, can do wonders.

Members kayd_mon
You can use a noise gate. If it's set low enough, it won't affect your note trails so badly.

I've never had problems with using a noise gate with shutting up the hum either. If you know how to set it right it doesn't effect tone at all.
