Members The Unknown
Hi ! I was wondering if they were any good small practice combos that actually sound as good as "real" amps, only not as loud ? I mean is there any, say, 15 to 30 watter that actually sounds as good as a 300 watt amp, but at a lower volume level ?
Members Emprov
I used to have a Bassman 25 and it was a pretty cool little amp, loved the tone. I guess Roland's got a 30w amp that gets a lot of love around these parts as well, I'm sure someone will chime in with the model number before too long. Members LanEvo
There are quite a few. But the price is high. The SWR Baby Blue and PJB Briefcase come to mind.

The models sound good too, though I mainly use the clean and the R&B settings.

Members Super Bass
I like the smaller Marshall MB series. They have a good sound for their size. I had the MB15 before and liked it a lot.

Members bassman1956
Anyone had the occasion to try the smaller Roland Cube, the one with the 4 x 4 inch speakers ?I'm really thinking of something small here ! It looks like most of the responses have missed your stress of the word small. Yes. Fantastic for what it is, as a tiny unit. Very good tone down to the lower A, then it starts to get weak, and is anemic by the low E. It's really not much smaller than the Cube 30, and not that much cheaper, so unless you really want the battery-powered aspect, I think you'd be better off with a 30. As for size, the GK MB150 is about the same height and width of the Cube 30, and a couple inches skinnier. (I have both, sitting side by side.) But even used, it may cost you 3 times as much.
