Ohhhhhhh, I'm a dumbass, I thought you meant the surfaces where the joints would be, lol

The top surface is ready, its actuall thinner than the rest of the body. There will be another piece glued on top of it to take up the difference giving the black center section a pronounced "ridge", sorry for the poor description but it will make sense later lol

Thanks for the advice guys

Lookin' good so far. If I was gonna do this I'd probably go the same way.

Actually I was thinking about doing a similar thing if I ever found an SB with a lot of damage to the body. I'd turn it into this...

Barry Devlin's (Horslips) Shamrock Bass

It originally had some RIC type pickups back in the 70's.

I would have loved to have done it differently and used an epibird neck, but I am not about to cut up a tbird. I do however have a tbird neck, bridge, and pickups. If this project is a success (and I don't see why it won't be), I may build an explorer body and have someone rout it for the tbird parts

:snax:

What wood is that?

Oh btw, hope you're saving this poomwah... it'll be gone on Monday when they change the site.
:(

Its poplar, didn't have too many choices around here.

As far as it being gone Monday, most of us will too from what I've been reading, lol
