Members Tedster
There's a pretty cool reggae version of "Michelle" nowadays...I'm not sure, it might be Ben Harper that's doing it. It works well as a reggae song. As for good Beatles covers...what's the goal, getting their ass shaking or singing along?

Members Lee Flier
Don't EVEN get me started. These are the Beatles songs on my band's playlist - and yes we've actually done them all at one time or another... Bravo! Excellent choice and flawlessly performed. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to get that one covered only to be met with blank stares. And it never would have come out like your rendition! Keep up the good work
Members Jimi Ray Halen
While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Jeff Healy did a great cover of it. There was a great local band that used to do I Am the Walrus. Cool song.
Members Scheming Demon
Being a huge Beatle fan myself, there aren't too many Beatle songs that wouldn't go over. There is almost no such thing as an obscure Beatle song.
Members AJ6stringsting
"Yer Blues", a way over looked Beatles blues song.....I've been in a couple of bands that covered that tune and a lot of the younger crowd went:freak: ,.......they loved it . Killer turn arounds, deep lyrics and a killer !
Members Tedster
BTW...AJ...cool call on "Yer Blues". Timing is weird on it...I'll have to try it sometime Beatles songs I cover as a solo act: All You Need Is Love/I'm Only Sleeping/Your Mother Should Know (medley) Penny Lane A Day In The Life/Strawberry Fields (medley) Dear Prudence Mother Nature's Son Taxman Two of Us Fool On The Hill Blackbird (doesn't everybody?) Yesterday (not often...too overdone) We Can Work It Out Here, There, and Everywhere Michelle Norwegian Wood (again...overdone) You've Got To Hide Your Love Away Happiness Is A Warm Gun With a band: Drive My Car Day Tripper Help Hard Day's Night Ticket To Ride I Saw Her Standing There Getting Better Nowhere Man Probably a lot more that I can't think of at the moment. There are quite a few McCartney songs in there...but, for me, truth be told...I feel more comfortable doing Lennon tunes. Probably my fave of the lot is strapping on the Ric 12 string and doing "Hard Day's Night" and "Ticket To Ride" (even though Harrison was said not to have played a 12 on "Ticket"...it sounds so much better on one)

Members RupertB
I've covered a lot of Beatles solo and with bands. Some of my favorites to play: For getting them dancing: I Feel Fine For slow dancing: Here, There and Everywhere. For White album wierdness: I Dig a Pony (I loved covering that one) One that I don't get to play much is "If I Fell". My bandmates think that its a bit over-sweet for most of the rooms we play (and they're probably right) but I like the tune a lot. When the harmonies are done right, goosebumps. Members mrcpro
They were the best band in history, but their songs don't go over as well in bars as much lesser fare. I've covered a lot of Beatles songs over the years. The only one I'm currently doing with any regularity is "Get Back", and I'm using it mostly as a change-up. Members Tedster
I tend to lean towards Mrcpro's assessment, with a couple of exceptions... I've played my "Day in the Life/Strawberry Fields" medley before, and some lady, as soon as I got done, hollered "Play Strawberry Fields AGAIN!"...so, I did (the bar was far less than packed). And, at the same place, I got some awesome reactions to my doing "Taxman" with my iPod backing tracks (which I recorded myself). But usually...a lot of bars, unless they cater to a certain crowd, want to hear the usual {censored}.
Members Tedster
BTW...if you find yourself playing in a country band, and still want to do some Beatles, cover "I'm A Loser". That would work really well as a country song. Of course, notwithstanding The Beatles covered Buck Owens' "Act Naturally" and did their own redneck thing with "What Goes On" But "Loser" would work really well as a country tune. Members Scafeets
We do Come Together and the Birthday Song. I insisted we learn the Birthday song and do it flawlessly, because I'm tired of having to make birthday announcements on gigs and then do the lame "Happy Birthday" song. The Beatles song goes over WAY better.
