Members Blackbird 13
Ugh.. In the past four weeks.. I've had a rainout.. I had one club decide to stop doing all it's bands but one (after a handshake agreement and TWO phone calls confirming our dates would be good there); costing us two dates, I had another club that claims they had issues with the fire marshall; costing us two dates, and I had a corporate chain bar double book over two gigs, and cancel a third on me this morning (for tonight's gig?!) because the Wednesdays have been slow across the board. W. T. F.? I have NEVER seen it this bad out there.. it's $1300 I've lost.. $1300 the other vocalist has lost, and like $600-$800 each for the other two guys in the band. Any ideas on how to pick up some work? Even something on the cheap would be good right now.. as this is ridiculous! In 15 years of doing this, and 7 years of doing it as full time income.. I've never had it hit this hard...
Members Vito Corleone
Hopefully it's just a blip in the road and not a "new normal". On our end of things, we've seen fewer corporate parties and a higher reliance on weddings to fill the schedule this year than the last couple of years. At least there's still some pvt money out there though.

Members Opus Antics
This year I had 2 venues drop bands to go all-DJ, 2 venues close their doors, and one get gutted by a fire. That's almost all of the venues where I had built up relationships. Nothing like starting from scratch, so I feel your pain. :-/

Members Tullsterx
I think it's in special events, parties, wedding, corporate events, country clubs, etc. Playing clubs, bars and restaurants just ain't what it used to be, though it's always been hit and miss, and I think this is the new staus quo. Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, cut grass, construction, etc? Would probably pay better per hour than a $200 band bar gig, too.

Please just don't play barre chords on your acoustic all night and solo on it like it's an electric. I'm serious too.

Members Potts
Sorry cant quote... That's awesome! I'd love to be able to do some tunes like that. That's about the only type of music I'd really love to add but probably don't have the talent to do.
Members RoadRanger
Rap isn't hard once you understand that it is percussive vs melodic . REM's "End of the World" or Johnny's "I've Been Everywhere" are good "gateway" tunes .
