Phil O'Keefe
Unfortunately none of us were able to get to New York for the AES trade show this time around, but I do get all the press releases from the various manufacturers and their reps, so I thought I'd create a thread here highlighting some of the cool new product announcements. I'll also include links to the full story about each item in HC News that you'll be able to click on to get more information... ready? Then let's get started! Phil O'Keefe
While their name isn't widely known among musicians, most engineers know and respect them - you'll find their monitors in many world-class control rooms. Now Augspurger has monitors designed to give you "small room monitoring with large room performance" in the form of their new Treo 812 CFM Close Field Main Monitoring System, which features a three-way design with built-in 12" sub, 8" mid-low driver and 4" compression driver in a MF MidFocus horn. http://www.harmonycentral.com/news/need-new-studio-monitors-check-out-this-treos-performance
Phil O'Keefe
Of course a trade show like AES isn't only about cool new gear, but also about sharing knowledge with, and learning from your fellow engineers. One such opportunity to learn is the AES Panel on "High Resolution Record Production and Why It Matters" http://www.harmonycentral.com/news/aes-panel-high-resolution-record-production-and-why-it-matters
Phil O'Keefe
Are you a control freak? PreSonus has you covered - now with twice as many faders! More faders equals more channels of simultaneous control, so PreSonus has released their new FaderPort 16. http://www.harmonycentral.com/news/more-faders-for-more-control
Phil O'Keefe
Insert gratuitous Big Knob pun / double entendre here - Mackie has updated their classic Big Knob studio monitor controller with not one, but three new versions... and they are now shipping. Stay tuned for HC Expert Reviews of the new passive model, as well as the new top of the line model (Big Knob Studio +) shown below. http://www.harmonycentral.com/news/i...r-own-big-knob

Phil O'Keefe
Does Immersive 3D Audio that takes the shape of your own personal ears, head and upper body into account sound interesting? Genelec and IDA Audio claim to have redefined Immersive 3D Audio - their jointly developed technology will be available for demo at the IDA Audio booth (#961) at AES NYC. http://www.harmonycentral.com/news/immersive-3d-audio-for-professional-headphone-users-that-takes-you-into-account
Phil O'Keefe
Here's something you don't see very often - a high-end studio vocal microphone with an end-address format instead of the far more common side address. It also has a smaller capsule than most "vocal mics" do. So who is it from? Earthworks. It's their new SV33 Studio Vocal Microphone, and they're going to have it at AES. A new mic from Earthworks is always noteworthy, but a new studio vocal mic is especially so… http://www.harmonycentral.com/news/e...rophone-at-aes
