Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted February 26, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 26, 2016 Anybody been to one of Carlos' shows over the past 5 years? Still worth seeing? I had a look through Youtube/Vemo and it all seemed a bit hit n miss, and seems he trying to hard to be current instead of doing what he does best. Opinions? Members wankdeplank
Geez I guess I haven't seen Santana for fifteen years or so. Always enjoyed him and his rhythm section when I have though. Seems like that guy never gets old. I'd go again given the right opportunity. Members speakerjones
It's been about 10 years for me, but I've always enjoyed his shows. He's been recording with the surviving members of his original band. Not sure if that will turn into a tour or not, but I'd definitely go see that line-up perform. Members *BLEEP*
Santana is currently releasing the new Santana IV album -- with a tour to follow. Santana IV is basically a return to where Santana III ended back in 1970/1971-ish. Most of the original Santana III people are on the new Santana IV album -- Greg Rolie, Michael Schrieve, Neal Schon, etc. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/santana-iv-album/ Also of note, up next will be a reunion of sorts with John McLaughlin. It will be a project with Santana, John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and others. A tour for that group will also happen (after the Santana IV tour). http://www.relix.com/news/detail/carlos_santana_forming_group_with_herbie_hancock_john_mclaughlin_and_wayne_shorter

Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted February 29, 2016 Author Moderators Share Posted February 29, 2016 OK, so it's a departure for the Santana feat. XXXXX. It's more back to Santana with a proper band...hmmmm, may have to give that serious consideration, I've already bought a shedload of tickets, and oddly enough out of all of them, I'm looking forward to Tom Jones the most:)
Members BG76
I saw him open for Bob Dylan, but it was a long time ago now. I say go for it if he's coming. He's a legend and a great player. If nothing else you'll be able to say you saw him.

But if he's pushing a Santana IV, then it maybe a slight return to the big band style
