I was just learning to play drums, must have been something liek 12 years old maybe 13, and I saw this Dixieland jazz ensemble playing at our local oil and gas festival( I believe the first gas wells and some of the first oil wells in the country) and this drummer was 81 years old. I know because I asked him. He was doing all the twirls and flips, snapping his cuffs as he did slight of hand cymbal work... He smoked the hats like nobodies bidness! I stood and watched this geriatric gunner mow down a crowd with style and grace and right then I knew age means nothing, the beat goes on!

I hope to be playing ultra fusion well through my 90s. I also hope to improve the metal genres some time in my late 70s when my chops will be good enough.
