But in principle, the term "African American" is just a nicer way to say "black person", since we consider black people whith, say, carribean herritage, to be African American, although they may have no African lineage.

 

 

Uh, dude, where do you think those black people in the Carribean came from? The same slave routes that came to the U.S. The islands not only imported African slaves to work the sugar plantations, but it was also an imported trade stop from slaver traveling from Africa to the States.

Yeah, there are. Not that that has really anything to do with Canada, and where Canadian black folks come from. There are lots of black Canadians who come from Haiti and the French speaking parts of Africa, but they're outnumbered by those who came from Jamaica and the other English islands in the Carribean, Africans from the English and non English speaking parts of Africa, and by the black people who came from the US over the last 250 years. The first big wave of black immigration to Canada was during the American Revolution.
