You JUST beat me to saying Bad Brains! Well, not really JUST beat me, but close enough. Amazed no one said them.

And I gotta promote Nomeansno, my uncle's the guitarist:

Nomeansno Myspace

Also, Nomeansno related, Hanson Brothers

Check out "Joey Had to Go"

I'd also count the third Red Hot Chili Peppers album (and the first two, to a certain extent).

To me, so much can be "punk." Punk music to me is any music that has a positive message (yeah, that's right, positive, even if it is through pointing out what's {censored}ed up with society).

Punk tells you what's wrong and then tries to do its own thing in order to get you to understand, it's what the whole DIY thing is about. Like Fugazi trying to make all their shows all ages and only cost 8$. It's about doing it yourself on your own terms and trying to make it better for everyone, generally.

yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. The Dents/All catalog is probably my most played music in my collection. Stephen Egerton is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time.I played Ft Collins a lot when I toured, mostly because I wanted to hang out at the Blasting Room.

Nope
Its the Love Supreme of punk. Wait : it's the pharoah%20sanders.jpg

of punk.
Bitches Brew is tribal indeed, as Fun House, but there's too much notes in it : it is too sophisticated

Plus, The Stooges claimed their 'Trane and Sanders influence, and Davis too, but Bitches Brew was after Funhouse....

IMHO
