I weant to get a P90 or similar for my bridge in a 335. Any suggestions?

I have a set of Phat Cats in my red Dot and it sounds great.

I wanted it to sound more like John Lennon's Casino so I threw those in.

I'm not quite sure that it can nail that tone since Casinos are so peculiar, but I'm quite pleased with the way it sounds.

Last night, we had our first session for the new Jules Day album; it was an acoustic based song called "Come Sunday". Dr Joseph Jewell, the guitarist (and a dang fine one at that), had two very nice acoustic guitars with him, and we were originally going to use one for the solo... but it was conflicting too much with the acoustic rhythm guitar part. Joe didn't bring his 335 with him, but fortunately, my Casino was sitting there waiting for him. I plugged it into my AC15cc, which is a pretty bright amp... so I rolled off the treble a bit, and Joe selected the neck pickup and dialed back the tone knob on the guitar a bit. Miked it with a Beyer M160 ribbon. Instant killer jazz tone.

It doesn't hurt that Joe just knocked it out of the ballpark with his excellent note selection and phrasing... but if the tone wasn't there, we would have noticed, and it would have detracted from what he was doing.

I absolutely LOVE my MIK (Peerless) Casino. I could have spent a LOT more on a thin hollowbody, but that Casino is no slouch, no matter what you're comparing it to. It's tonally versatile, has a killer neck and plays fantastic - it really is one of my favorite guitars. :phil:

i had a schecter semihollow that was pretty cool, but too similar to my agile lp. i had expected a more dramatic difference from a semi, and this is the guitar that gave it too me. kinda overpaid a little for it, but it already had an upgraded neck pup and was set up for 12s, so it was money i would have spent anyway. i loved it so. i found "my guitar". though i thought it was the coolest idiosyncracy, i did eventually change the last knob to match the others ({censored}ing gfs sent me a stripped knob with two different sets).

that eventually gave way to the es333 in my sig. i was plenty happy with the sheraton ii, but i got into a "front end" upgrading phase, wherein i had a few guitars come in and out. there were a few guitars i was specifically (casually) targeting, but the 333 kinda fell in my lap. so in search of greener grass, i went with it. it is a great guitar, plays well, sounds wonderful, and i did several mods to make it more "me". but i kinda didn't bond with it as much as i thought i would. hard to explain, but if you've been through it, you know.

so idly searching through ebay one day, i kinda bought this (my no chance in hell but kinda realistic dream guitar):

elitistsheraton40.jpg

elitistsheraton2.jpg

and haven't looked back since. its an epoch changing guitar for me. i love that it isn't for everyone, the mini hums, the versitility while retaining a distinct sound, and the perversity of a "cheap plastic, inferior to gibson import". i keep going back and forth about whether or not i should mod it, but i'm very happy with what it is. played that bitch so hard the {censored}ing "e" is about to fall off.

(the selling of the 333 was more to assuage my guilt over buying a guitar that i didn't need and could not afford. but i just  me my sheraton, and it isn't the same animal as the 333. i had planned to make them fight for my love, but i bonded with the sheraton right away, and between that and my lp, i have all my bases covered. and now i need the cash for other things, so...)

love,
eor

i'd love to add a full hollow (and possibly a big box one), but that's more idle gas talking and not an actual need. my epiphones is holding it down. though it might be cool to have a bigsby'ed elitist sheraton... maybe routed for full humbuckers... so many happy people with such pretty guitars in this thread; it isn't helping at all. lately, i've found that i've been looking up 50s-60s epis on ebay and then just rubbing my balls on the screen. that needs to stop, for various reasons.

ps, all you guys looking for full sized p90s need to get some of these:

ive have a pal in a semi major touring band whos sponsored by gibbie, but in all his videos, is only aplying his MIK casinos. He said they feel better.

I dont agree, but Im looking at an MIK Epi emperor regent. Jazzbox'd

i've seen more epis in videos nowadays than i have... possibly ever.

the kings of leon non singing guitar guy plays epiphones in their videos and (possibly vintage) gibsons on stage. i doubt that is uncommon, especially if a band is sponsored. free (or discounted) epis for promos and videos, and free (or discounted) gibbys for stage and studio. everyone wins.

love,
eor

it is a bitch to work with semihollows. unless you have an access panel (hi es333 ), you have to work through the pickup holes or the f holes. there are a few methods and tutorials out there, but i've never braved it. good luck.
