Members Electric Catfish
I was going to say the new (blue) Dunlop Jimi Fuzz Face, with BC108's, used. Supposedly, the MXR is the same, except with a buffer circuit, though.
Members Wulver
Well, if you're talking classic period Hendrix, you'd probably want a germanium fuzz. The two recent fuzzboxes, the MXR and the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face are both silicon fuzz units. Different sort of tonality. Hendrix DID use the silicon units towards the end of his career, Band of Gypsies and whatnot.
Members StompboxMan
Used or new. Cheaper the better. Is the Dano CC Fuzz good for Hendrix or is it more muffy? Hendrix used an Arbiter Fuzz Face. Start with a used Fuzz Face. No sense buying something that sounds like a Fuzz Face when used ones are cheap. If Hendrix was alive today he'd most likely be playing a ZVEX Fuzz Factory. www.zvex.com
Members Ming Chow
Get a used Fulltone '70. I willing to bet that if Hendrix was alive today. He would be doing a clean guitar tone or all acoustic.

Any kind of fuzz built to sound similar to the old arbiters would be good. From what I remember reading he used a silicon transistor based FF later on and a germanium based early in his fame. Members cobalt-60
I love the buffered sound on the Classic 108, are there any other fuzzs under $125 that explore that sound more? A little more gain, clarity, and something for texture shaping would be perfect.
