Members wiklund87
My Cmatmods Signa Comp destroys all of these:D ...but I'm happy for you all that like cheaper compressor pedals... I just don't like how most of them affect my tone and make a lot of noise...

It can cause some really weird noises. Use TheGigRig VBAT-BC and that will fix it. Or you can use a Z Vex power plate, the noise filtering in that will work too. When we add the optional power jack, we include the filtering so there will be no problem. Members wiklund87
How is the EH Nano Soul Preacher ?I didn't like it at all, but someone at this forum wrote that there is an inside trimmer that makes the pedal much more useful! Members IamBurnout
The DynaComp is pretty good, and even more so if you like the flavor of the Dano. The non-reissue has a ratio trim pot in it as well.

Members penelope twee
I'm getting ready to order a Guyatone ST-2. Anybody try that one? It would be good to see it demo'd alongside other 'budget' compressors like the Soul Preacher, Milk Box, Dyna Comp and the Marshall Ed. Im sure they all sound different. Members IamBurnout
This thread made me try the Dano on my board again. It doesn't have as much 'character' as the MXR, but it's not as noisy.

What is it that people liked about the original MXR? And (why) is the current model so different?
Members Tron Murphy
I only recently "found" compression myself... I dont like the squishy comps though, not really useful for what i play. But the the tube comp model on the M13 is now ALWAYS on. Its made my guitar sound so much fuller and alive.THIS!! I've never used compression (tried different ones through the years and thought ) but the the tube comp model on my M9 has made me think I need something like it outboard. The Black Finger has already been brought up, any other good ones?

Unobtanium and bragging rights. If it was a brand spanking new pedal with no led and crappy bypass.... It would be slammed by the nitpickers. Keep in mind, I'm cynical. Members kirs
what exactly does a compression pedal do? It a nutshell, keep the output volume level so your lightest strumming is as loud as your hardest.
