Members Kid_A
So the Johnny Marr thread got me thinking about those fantastic tones he used to get in the Smiths... and I have always wanted an electric 12 string for some songs in my band, but dont have the Rickenbacker cash So what other alternatives are out there? Phil O'Keefe
I absolutely LOVE my Danelectro DC-12. I wanted a Ric 12 pretty bad, but the Dano (which was under $200 new IIRC) cured all my 12 string electric GAS.
Phil O'Keefe
Love the look of those! It must be a UK thing. No offense, but every Burns I've ever seen made me throw up in my mouth a little. Sorry.
Members Kid_A
Is that right Phil? Hmmm... I have to admit, i dont like the look of the Danos, but thats quite a glowing praise... maybe i should give them a look in... I like the look of these Stargazers, but over here they are stupid money. Members Kid_A
Random question... I got a Squire protone thinle tele... would it be possible to turn that into a 12 string?!
Members t_e_l_e
i'm gasing somehow for a italia rimini, i only want a 6-string but the 12 strings are also tempting: they come also in other/normal colors and were about 350-450pound. big problem i guess, they don't produce the rimini modells anymore, righties might be available on the bay, but lefties are almost nowhere

Members jorgenegeland
Go Dano. Lipstick pickups are very nice for that chimy 12 string sound. Sometimes I regret spend all that money on my Fender XII. I don't use it too much, but it's still my most expensive guitar.
Members Kid_A
maybe,is the squier a toploader? Dont ever call my guitar a toploader, its got nothing to do with that dancing in the moonlight crap. It does however string up from underneath

Members CapnMarvel
http://www.rondomusic.com/product2059.html $329. I have the cheaper AL-2000 12-string Les Paul and it's OK! I sorta wish I'd held out for a single coil 12-string as has been mentioned, but with the right amp setup this sounds boner.
Members Kid_A
It would be way out of my budget once its shipped and VAT/Tax added in the UK But cheers for the headsup...
Members CapnMarvel
Rondo used to have cheaper 12-string models. The one I got was maybe $270. Their position towards purveyors of more 'high' end Korean-made designs has been increasing, and prices have been steadily rising in concert.
