Members Stevenglass
I was considering adding a trapeze tailpiece to a gibson les paul i own.But i don't want one that is tailpiece/bridge combined.Just a tailpiece. Like the one in this picture.http://bellsouthpwp2.net/b/2/b2sc/gear/53abr1.jpg Is it just a simple line up install and drill?Tonal benefits pros cons etc? Thanks guys. Members Josh33
I had a tail piece on my les paul special for a while.. it was pretty sweet. looked nice. I didnt have any issues with it or anything. I dont really remember why i switched back to a normal stop tail. hmm... maybe next time i put strings on ill throw it back on! oh and all i did was un screw the strap pin and then screwed it back on with the tail piece. i didnt add any extra holes. it was really easy. no more difficult then putting strap locks on. Members Josh33
i left the posts in because i didnt want to lose them and i didnt want any dirt getting in there. they wernt touching the tailpiece or doing anything at all concerning the tail piece. just plugging the holes
Members neoflox
Does a tailpiece like this influence the guitar's sound I wonder? Wanted one some time ago, too. Was looking at this one: It's an allparts replacement part

I found mine in a box of old junk guitar parts and just tried it out. like i said, i didnt have any problems. you might not get as much sustain out of it, but it never really bothered me! Members Stevenglass
If it was really that tone altering do you think i would keep it?it's 20 dollars. the reason why they call it your guitar is because it's your guitar. you do what you want with it.I would have preferred if you could have said why you felt it was a downgrade instead of just being an ass. Go ride a bike or something also i have a compressor so sustain ain't really a problem.. sustain for miles with any guitar
Members companyman
I am kicking around the idea of putting a frequensator tailpiece on my Epi Dot Studio, the string tension thing interests me....
Members Stevenglass
If it adds string tension i'm all for it. I love a guitar that fights back.

Members companyman
you can increase tension, or decrease, on either the wound or unwound strings.....and they look pretty cool imo.
