Members Capsule
Might have an opportunity to get a DD-5 for a decent price. Too lazy to do a search. FYI: I have owned a DD-7 before. people that have used both side by side what do you prefer
Members misterstomach
I've never played a dd5, but the absolute best thing about the dd7 in my opinion is the analog mode, which i don't think the dd5 has.
Members woolyh
At the same price? If you want the hold mode get the DD-5, if you want the looper, expression pedal input, oscillation, modulation, analog emulation etc. get the DD-7. Members T.O.N.M.
I used a dd5 for a long time and really liked the way it sounds. If I were getting one today I would get the 7 for exp control, longer time, more modes.
Members Akridosity
DD-5 has the super cool easy to use tap divides. DD-7 has a really long looper mode. Get both.
Members misterstomach
I use the looper at home for writing and it's been awesome to have one, but i don't think it sounds that good. I don't do loops live, but if i did i would use something else.
Members evets618
Both have the same settings for tap divisions, like dotted eighths. The DD-5 requires an external pedal for tap tempo, and the LED doesn't blink to show the tempo. On the DD-7, an external tap pedal is optional, as is an expression pedal. You can set the tempo with the pedal's footswitch, but it's that deal where you must hold the switch down for two seconds to get into tap mode, which is somewhat less useful when playing live. Using an external switch will set tempo on the fly, with the LED blinking. Tap tempo also works in the other modes, such as Analog and Reverse. On the DD-5, you must tap four times to set tempo. The DD-7 only needs two taps. But the DD-5 sounds better than the DD-7.
Members Musickbox
My DD5 has been my main delay for almost a decade. I had it modded this year and it's definitely not going anywhere. Having said that the DD7 is a great delay too, but I think it gets lost between all it's extra features and sounds. It really depends what you need in a delay pedal. Members Capsule
yeah in my head its coming down to the hold vs looper modes. I don't even really need another delay but one came up so i'm considering the DD-5 and DD-7's are readily available.
Members inabox
DD7 has more features, but the dd5 is very solid, you cant go wrong with either
Members Faldoe
Depends on what you want. You get more looping time with the DD-7 but its not a normal looper in that you can't stop a loop and then start it again, once you stop it - the loop is gone. The DD-5 is great for stutter effects - which is what I use it for. DD-7 has the analog mode... DD-5 is a beast. I modded mine and its a killer delay. Members oinkbanana
the DD5 has better digital delay soundthe DD7 has a more then decent analog delay sound if you need that as well. I'd get the DD5 and use it for its strong suit.

Members Capsule
hmm ok. I want it for uber clean delays and the reverse mostly so maybe DD-5 it is. I already have two fantastic delays.

Members Faldoe
What mods did you do? Rehoused it, added a switch to choose between 2 different modes, and added a tap tempo switch.
Members gold_soundz
Personally, I think the dd7 is much better than the dd5. The analog sim sounds very close to my dm2, you can dial out the dry on the reverse delay unlike the dd5 and it has a decent looper. I don't think the dd5 digital sound is particularly special. When they came out people used to say how much better the tone of the dd3 was. But then nostalgia means the older pedal is always deemed better... I think the dd7 is the best boss compact delay after the dm2/3, my personal opinion of course.
