Members mr benn
so one of these 70's Norlin SS amps has come up for sale locally really cheap they look like they were well made and combined with this... could make a nice low/mid volume home amp (my AD30 is way too loud!!) here's a pic of one for reference how's the clean tone? reverb? Members mr benn
cool thanks bieke! did they like pedals??
Phil O'Keefe
Loves pedals. I used to have an L5 years ago too. I loved the midrange control on it, which is different than the one on the L3. I've never tried an L3, but if it sounds as good or close to as good as the L5, and you can snag it for a good price, I'd go for it.
Members DICKTRON
I use one at home, and I've gigged with it a few times in low volume situations. Very, very clean, but takes pedals nicely.

Members Y0UNGBL00D
It was a moog gibson collaberation?
Members mr benn
It was a moog gibson collaberation? they were both owned by Norlin at the time, from what I've read the Moog guys developed them and some Gibson plant put them together and then they were distributed through the Gibson dealer network. Members metulmykul
I had an L5 that i could never come to terms with but it did have after market speakers. Eminence Legends i think. Big and boomy, a little too dark for me. I was hoping it would match my Yamaha ss amps, which it did not.

Members HeartfeltDawn
Lots of bass from what I remember. The Yamaha SS amps I've tried had the same thing, really tight good sounding bass. You might want to consider the EHX 2ube instead. I used that as a preamp. Ran all the dirt into the 2ube, Diamond compressor aterwards and then split into the two Main In sockets on my JC-120 at the time. Really good sound and very usable at home and on stage. Excellent with most pedals. I still use the same gear mostly with my two Peavey Bandits now. Excellent clean effects platform.

Members LSDis4me
I think BB King was a long-time L5 user.
Members eti
Had an L7 back in the day. Wonderful cleans. Reverb was OK when it worked; it developed a feedback problem. L3 is designed for bass, right?

Members metulmykul
The L5 is BB King's amp of choice and you can hear it straight away. The L3 is different as the L5 had parametric eq and was a 2x12. Was the L7 a 4x10 or 4x12? Man, that would weigh 2 tons.

Members mr benn
Yeah you hear loads about the L5,the L3 not so much?? Anyway it needs a new speaker-any suggestons for a good 4ohm 12" that can handle 60w SS??
