Phil O'Keefe
G&L SC-1's and SC-2's from the early 1980s are very cool guitars. Like the Fender Mustang, Musicmaster II and Duo Sonic II, they were marketed as entry level or student model guitars. They're full-scale though. Phil O'Keefe
wonder if i should build a mustang one day... Or a Duo Sonic II / Musicmaster II, depending on whether or not you want a vibrato or hardtail, and how many pickups you want. Either way, it's not that hard to do. Stripped, refinished, and / or "beater" bodies can be had relatively inexpensively on Ebay, as can necks and all the other parts. Of course, you could just buy a new Squier Vintage Modified Mustang. It's not the same thing exactly (different fingerboard radius, body wood, bridge saddles, etc.), but it's also only $299 for a brand new one, and the reports I've read are generally favorable.
