Members C-4 Posted August 30, 2005 Members Share Posted August 30, 2005 I agree that taking food to eat in an emergency is one thing, but every time there is an emergency or riot, who are the ones most seen taking non-essential things like TV sets, jewelry and breaking windows to get into stores NOT carrying food, or just generally destroying other people's property? Lower class blacks and hispanics. You don't see middle class people of any race doing this. Don't get angry with me for the news showing these people doing it either. I'm making an observation. Had I been there and seen this, I would have shot every one of them that I could that was looting non-essential goods. They take advantage of other people's misfortunes to try to get ahead on a personal level rather then do what most people do...work hard for what they desire. I deal with this every day in my work. I'm disgussed with that portion of the population! They think everything is owed to them. I've seen this since the L.A. riots. Half of the people that I saw just looked like people who didn't have a dime to their name. Even the residents down there who aren't poor are worrying about supplies. If a hungry kid wants to steal a 12 pack of Pepsi and a loaf of bread after being hit by one of the worst natural disasters in this country in the past 100 years, I'm not sure that I don't have a problem with that. Shoes, sporting goods, jeans, jewellery, casino chips, etc, NOT justifiable. Kinda doubt many will be caught though, just not practical to waste resources on pursuing thieves when there are people in need of medical assitance. If I was in a natural disaster and it was a choice of stealing food or having my family starve I would take the food and when my life got back on track I would make restitution.
