You guys have to remember that the iOS 4.2.1 includes CORE MIDI support, so basically every single USB MIDI controller with legacy drivers for Core MIDI, will work with an iPad. That is huge news and then you don't need an specific keyboard controller to do so.

ipad (with Camera kit adapter for USB support) +
+ USB MIDI Controller = heaven.

No reason to ride the great escalator to the sky just yet. I have an

iPad+ USB Camera Kit + Midi Controller (whoa hold the bus, Gus , not all of them work, for instance Akai's Mpk Mini or MPK25 gives an error message on the iPad that it draws too much power for the port. The Korg Nanokey works but has a horrible keyboard) = sometimes heaven but mostly not.

Beatkangz update...

I'll give 'em props for the production of this "epic-sounding" trailer, and for being honest about the 2-year delay. Would still not buy their gear since their original marketing hype was so off-putting though, unless I was doing set design for Tron Legacy 2 and needed some stage props for the club scene.

oh man that beat kangz video was incredible. from a drawing on a piece of paper to the HARDEST {censored} EVER!

but my favorite part is when the epic crunk drops out completely and the camera slow zooms in on the Kangz or whatever their name is with mouthbreathing expressions on their faces, arranged all gangsta style on the steps.

we really need a picture like that of jerry the k and rich f. or {censored} any other reps. all company reps should have pictures like that from now on.

how bad ass would a gold chain that says "GUS" be

I'm not sure I get these Ipad thingies. It's got midi in/out, audio in/out, and I think you can hook up a larger display. Load up music apps in them?

Are they supposed to be a smaller alternative to a laptop?

It's about the touch screen (says I who don't have even an iPod Touch). It can display anything, you can mess with anything that can be displayed. Showing a keyboard onscreen is, I suspect, marketing; there are infinitely better ways to control music when mechanical necessity is removed and you can manipulate anything. I imagine controlling pads with something like fingerpaints.

For that you just buy a digital piano.

Sadly they don;t make the best controllers ever, great for action and 88 keys, not so good for pitch bend, mod wheel, keyboard splits or MIDI functionality.

Very nice for having 3 splits on though, if used with modules that can take care of that end of it.

The studiodock is really making me consider skipping gettin a macbook and just getting an ipad for live samples.

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StudioDock/

Sweetwater's got them up for $199. Haven't seen a price at Nova yet. So, how much are ipads? Then the apps. Add a controller board or pads or whatever and you're good to go?

You can't run regular vsti/softsynths on them though, right? Has to be ipad apps?

Radikal Technologies Accelerator synthesizer (2nd half of video):

Fantastic stuff [on your website]. My favorite is "Close Knit":thu:

This music would be perfect for some TV commercials [cars for example]. While listening to "Hour Glass", and starting at around 1:40mn, I imagined a long commercial about the performance of the latest BMW car, on a closed road by itself, being videotaped from a chopper:)

Akai's got a bunch of pedals that look good if the price is right. Novamusik's taking pre-orders for NAMM stuff already:

It's been suggested the Akai stompboxes are Biyang brand pedals with new graphics. The case design, knobs, and control configs sure look the same. http://www.biyang.com.cn/Pro_List.php?cid=1&page=2
