Members BAZGUITARMAN
I may be buying a second amp head to match with my 5150 II. I want to get an EL34 based amp and prefer a saturated pre-amp type of tone. Basically a EL34 version of my 5150 II. I`ve shied away from EL34 based amps so I don`t know much about what is good. Just give me some suggestions. I guess my price range will be $1,000 to $1,500 new or used. Thanks, Eric
Members shreder75
in that price range? probably an engl blackmore...I'd suggest my amp, but it's probably not saturated enough for you..the blackmore's definetly more saturated.. maybe a JSX with some EL34s in it? Members Chudanez
Blackmore seems the obvious choice
Members Son Wolf
You need a Marshall; if you just play the bedroom then a JVM would be OK for you.
Members BAZGUITARMAN
Blackmore seems the obvious choice I did think about the Blackmore, but doesn`t it use a shared EQ for both channels? I really prefer a seperate EQ for setting up each channel. Any other suggestions? Eric

Members willy22
I use EL34's in my Rectifier and my other guitarist runs a 6506+. Sounds massive. Both amps compliment each other very well.
Members cobrahead1030
maybe a dsl100? the jsx would be worth checking out as well
Members Mr. Brady
maybe a dsl100?the jsx would be worth checking out as well He's had a JSX which he sold to me, which I sold. If you liked your single recto, you might want to look into a tremoverb. I'm loving this amp and the 5150 would really compliment it when run together. The tremoverb is just more smooth while still being massive and has great cleans too.

Members CME
Never owned a 5150 to know how it would work, but if you haven't tried a Mesa Stiletto I recommend trying. If you have tried one and want something different I'm out of suggestions.
Members BAZGUITARMAN
I thought about buying a used DSL and having JerryP mod it for me. I also wanted to try a Voodoo Amps production Witchdoctor, but it doesn`t look like they will be coming out any time soon. Eric
Members cobrahead1030
if you get a dsl definitely get the 100w version and not the 50...throw some good tubes in there and you may like it pretty well even without the mods you could also score a used quickrod for around $1500; cleans aren't as nice but the overdriven tones are to die for! Members TomCTC
You're a thrashy guy, eh? You should look at rack setups. This running into this could slay dragons. If not, have you tried a Framus Cobra before? Lots of people like those for the heaviest of metalz.
Members Awake77
Ill cast a vote for the Carvin V3 again - I just bought one and Im real happy with it. Comes stock with EL34's, and is switchable bias for 6L6's. Its got some crazy gain, although isnt as focused as a Mark IV. (ive never owned a Mark IV - just from what Ive heard)
