Members Brick
No mac Requirements: Under a Grand Gotta Be a Dell Open to other suggestions, but this is for my mom, and she really wants to stick with dell despite the hate they get around here. If there's someother awsome amazing do it all computer for cheap then I'll be more than open to checking it out for her. I also need a printer than can fax as well. And finally, a wireless router, any suggestions? I'm a little n00blet when it comes to this stuff, so help me out here.

Members Chrisjd
I don't like Dell personally. I would go with an HP, although most computers are pretty similar.
Members pioneerprogress
best buy doesn't have a dell desktop for over $1000. Just buy the most powerful machine they've got. And I agree about HP, I prefer them too, but if Dell is what she likes, then by all means go for it!
Members EvilMeow
Go for that Woot.com system. That's a hell of a deal and will futureproof your mom for a long time. If you need a monitor, today's sellout.woot.com has a {censored}ing 24" monitor with HDMI for only $189. If you get it, you're going to have to get it today. They only do one item per day. They ship ultra fast and are great to deal with, though. http://www.woot.com/ http://sellout.woot.com/ http://shirt.woot.com/

Members Brick
keep em coming boys. The HP is tempting. She uses the computer for her home office for her business, so is there a good kinda cheap printer that'll work with the HP? The HP printers I've seen kinda suck
Members ClutchX2
www.tigerdirect.com Lots of affordable well built computers for sale there. I would take a pass on Dell. Their customer service is still hit/miss.
Members NinjaRaf
woot.com pwns again!!! I would stay away from dell. You dont get what you pay for with them. Your best bet would be to ask people you know if they know how to build a system and get one. Or go with that hp...

Members OverDriven
Dell isn't "bad" or worse than HP. They are basically the same thing. They both use mostly budget oriented hardware and have some good values for the everyday average computer user. If you want a workstation, you are better off building your own, but of course that's not what the OP is looking for. Just get this and be done with it. It's way more than your mom would ever need, but it will at least last her a long time. Includes a big monitor too. http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/desktops/inspndt_530/pd.aspx?refid=inspndt_530&s=dhs&cs=19&~oid=us~en~29~inspndt_530_anav3

Ya, I definitley don't have the time to build my own computer, or the know how for that matter. And The Dell's are fine becuase her and I are just both average users. I just use the Computer for HCAF, and she's a realtor so she's on the MLS and publisher mostly, so the dell's work for us Thanks, she'll probably bite on this

Members -todgemistro-
We've always had Dells at home and they've always been quite good/reliable. My Inspiron 6000 laptop is still running after 3-4 years. I have windows 7 on it now and its running great.
Members Brick
That sounds good, I've never had a problem with the dells either, I never understood the hate. But, wouldn't I need a modem for wireless internet? I'm not sure, I'm kind of confused No...a modem is for getting internet through a dial up (no one uses this anymore). The computer has what it needs to hook up to a wireless receiver already. You just need to get the receiver and router. I don't see a reason to hook up wireless to a desktop though. Is there a particular reason you are doing that?
Members OverDriven
Maybe blame should be placed where it is due though. Look at the name on the chip. It's intel, not dell.
