He can, yes, but the performances in the clips could do with a lot of polish (off key bends, quite a bit of sloppiness, and the guitar isnt in tune/intonated correctly either). But yes, he has talent.

fwiw I'm not on any 'side' here; I dont care what people choose to buy, I dont think you know for sure what TAG, shad (whoever the hell that is), quinn or anyone else is reallly up to or like from accross the internet, and frankly I couldnt care less. Their are plenty of dicks on the internet as well, so his abusiveness hardly makes him stand out from the crowd.

I'm just calling what I hear in those clips (unremarkable tone, unremarkable but basically good playing). They're the closest thing to real 'fact' we're going to get.

Thanks for listening. The clips are one take improvs with no touch ups and no punch ins. The tone IS remarkable, regardless of whether its your thing or not though. The amp sounds like it has a wah built in at times, and its controlled with how hard you pick the note. It also has almost human vocal types of vowel sounds at times, which Dumble stated he tried to do intentionally. I have heard no other style amp do that, and with the exception of a few Tworock models, no Dumble clone/style either. This is one thing I will really be looking for in the Quinn clone, so the pressure is on Shad to get it right. I believe he can do it. He has an exceptional ear, hes a good player, and knows the amp to the LETTER. I am really looking forward to getting the amp!

You must have pretty good ears to hear the out of tune/not intonated correctly sloppiness inside of all those off-key bends, especially in the context of blues tunes. That's pretty amazing. My ears must be shot. I always thought PODS pretty much sound like plastic ass. Guess not.

Dunno why youre so serious about it. Yes, the flaws I mentioned are there, maybe your ears are shot.

Tag took the comments with good grace, didnt dispute them and gave a good reason for them being there - one take improv, no punch ins (and therefore presumably no drop ins). Any recording guitarist knows how hard it is to play cleanly through a whole track like that, and I understand. Thats why I made the comments I did; flawed performances but has talent is my way of saying 'this recording has problems, I dont think its gets a pass as-is, but you show enough skill in it for me to know that if you spent the time at putting together a serious recording with attention to the flaws then there wouldnt be a problem'.

I know, one person removed, one guitarist that can play in that sort of style cleanly and profficiently more or less all the time - Mum (thats probably 'Mom' to you) has recorded with Albert Lee, and his MO is to run through the song once to get his head round it and form some idea what he's going to play, second run through is recorded and thats your take. He never fails on that second take, and that takes A LOT of talent, but even he needs that first run through. The mistakes tag made in one pass are forgivable; I'm prepared to believe that hes a good guitarist. Not amazing, but good.

As far as it being OK because its blues. Perhaps you dont listen to much blues? Show me the Johnny Winter, Rory Gallacher, Robben Ford (OH NOES!), SRV or whomever track that has equivelent sloppiness in the final product. No doubt they made mistakes, but it doesnt fly in the finished recording, even for blues.

As far as the tone from XTs; its a memory of tone rather than a database of clips I keep around from in case I need to argue with someone who thinks they've got themselves in an internet dick-swinging contest. I've been searching Bare Knuckle Pickups Players forum since asked for the clips, which is where I believe I heard the sounds in question, but its a needle in a haystack. If you actually care to hear them, rather than just score points by banking on me not providing any, then you have as good a chance of finding them as me.
