I chopped up the end of my fretting middle finger in a hedge trimming accident about ten years ago. I just broke down crying when I thought I might not play again. It's an emotional thing. I destroyed the knuckle on my left pinky playing football 17 years ago, requiring 3 screws & two pins to repair, and it scared the {censored} out of me. Fortunately though, even though I've never been able to straighten that finger since, it healed in such a way that it's in the perfect position for playing! They put a steel wire basically between his thumb and the rest of his hand which he got removed about a week ago. Aside from some stiffness, he's good to go and rocking out, so heads up. It was a Carpal Tunnel Release surgery and it was quick and the recovery was real quick also. Don't rush anything and follow your doctor's instructions and you will be fine.
