Members rushtallica
Just to get the other side of conversation.. Which *ONE* guitarist has your all-time favorite tone? List album or song if possible. I'm going to have to go with Alex Lifeson's tone on Limelight. That's one of my favorite rock tones, as well. The solo just sounds phenomenal, as well. I like different tones for different applications, though, including basic ones for light rock, jazz, punk, hardcore, blues slide, blues-rock, heavy rock, modern rock, fuzzy/Iommi metal, 80's metal, 90's metal, death metal, djent, etc... Too many to pick from for me, but with Alex having been around for decades and having a wide variety of tones over the years, that would probably be my pick for only one guitarist for tones. Of course, tone monsters such as Eric Johnson are difficult to ignore, as well.

Members rushtallica
Siamese Dream I like the tone a lot, though I think it'd be difficult to get it to cut through very well in a live setting.
