Members johnnyl80
I'm selling a pair of Celestion G12T-80 speakers, and a guy just asked me if one of them would be powerful enough to use it into his Hughes & Kettner Attax 100 combo... I'm honestly not 100% sure about this, what do you say?
Members sleewell
My vote is not safe esp if he plans to play loud and with pedals, but I am far from an expert.
Members primeholy
I think it would be ok. Mark V combos ship with an 80 or 90 watt speaker, and it is a 90 watt tube amp.

Members Krank'N
I wouldnt do it. Ask yourself if you want to refund his $$ when he returns a blown speaker?
Members Cirrus
The reason it's been rated at 80 watts: I wonder what it is. Hint: It's not because it's designed to work with 100 watts.
Members GCDEF
It's been a while, but when I went to school, 80 was less than 100.
Members teemuk
I wouldn't vouch on it but I have a faint memory that some Attax 100W combo amps actually came with a 80W Celestion G12 Rockdriver in stock. Probably ok as long the amp isn't cranked insanely, at which point you'd likely need a 200W speaker anyway.

Members Belva
Rule of thumb I've always gone by is to have a speaker 1.5X the # of watts RMS as the wattage of the amp. In other words, for a 100 watt amp, run a 150 watt speaker.
Members Wyatt
I would not recommend it. A 100-watt SS amp may be limited to not exceed its 100 RMS watts, but it may reach 100 watts much earlier on the knob than the owner thinks.
Members Sixtonoize
I would not recommend it. A 100-watt SS amp may be limited to not exceed its 100 RMS watts, but it may reach 100 watts much earlier on the knob than the owner thinks. And when it does hit the rails, the DC that the speaker sees will kill it FAST.

Members johnnyl80
Yeah, I know... But I've heard so many people saying that if you don't push it all the time there's no risk at all that I was unsure.Plus, I actually don't have much experience with ss amps, and as far as I remember they seem to be quieter than tube ones... Members MyEmergency
I can tell you really want to sell the dude the speaker but it's not safe if he ever jams at band volumes.
