Members philo426
Here is a pic of the first guitar I bought. It is a Montaya #145 and it sounds great.I had to cut down the saddle to lower the action and replace the tuning machines with Grovers but after that it has been one of my main guitars since I bought in the summer of '83. Members StratGuy22
No, not a touring musician. I mean I played the bar scene in the late 80's - 90's just cover bands. Nothing of any note. I'm divorced, and it's funny what trouble one can get into when there isn't anyone to say "no honey, you can't buy that" The 4th row of swirls are all custom. There is a no name Green swirl, then a black 7string, then a nice purple and black RG350 I think, with a reverse headstock. It was swirled by Herc Fede, the neck is swirled as well. Then the PAW swirl (Passion and Warfare) was done by Darren Johansen, who is considered to be the king of swirls. The pink Jem on the right is a stock SK or Shocking Pink color. The RG550 on the right is a touch more red-ish. I always thought it was pink, until I compared it to the SK Jem. I did the paint job myself, years ago. The RG550 has been my main guitar for 20 years. I bought it in 88, brand spankin new. I always scalloped the last 4 frets on the RG550s myself, and sanded down the back of the neck. Here's a better pic of the two. I think the RG550 is called Five Alarm Red or something. The pic is a few months old, I replaced the mis matched set of Volume and Tone knobs, with an original matching set of yellow ones. Members StratGuy22
LOL you can always say "At least I'm not as bad as this one guy on HC!" I have 4 more swirl guitars. A blue one getting some neck work a purple 7 string a DNA style and another blue one. The last 3 have necks and bodies, but need pickups etc to be complete. Members StratGuy22
I would look for an RG550. They are a good solid guitar. I've gigged tons and my main guitar for 20 years is the pinkish RG550 on the left, 2nd row from the back. Great action (1mm at the 12th fret) a pretty wide variety of sounds. I bet you could find one for under $

I whipped up another thread in the electric guitar area with better pics of my stripped down SK. It's my favorite one at the moment. http://acapella.harmony-central.com/....php?t=2271849
Members Jimmy Chaos
You've inspired me. Today I took my Tele apart and started sanding the finish. I've done the top, need to do the back and sides tomorrow... And I've got some pink spray paint... It was boring white before, hopefully it'll come good (I'm sanding by hand and it's hard work... I'm hoping to have it done by weekend) , I'll post in the EG forum when it's finished.
