Members GretschGuy
It would depend on the guitar I guess. If you are into friedman why not get a jar of bees with a mic inside and hook that up as a pickup?

Members headpiecepuzzle
DiMarzio Tone Zone.... unless you're dead-set on getting Duncans - then I would recommend a DiMarzio Tone Zone.
Members GretschGuy
To me Friedman sounds like a jar of angry bees. Nothing against the poster. To each his own.

Members cloudnine
Um, Friedman's tone on Rust in Peace (especially during Hangar 18) is pretty good - a little icepicky at high volumes, but hardly a jar of bees.
Members dewees
If you put all the Duncan Distortions, Customs, and JBs end to end they would circle the globe five times. If you added the Jazz neck pickup and '59s they woudl go around 12 times. Personally, I'd rather have a more original sound.
Members choklitlove
i like friedman and jbs. but this is a dirty thread full of dirty, angry men. so i think this will be my last post in here.
Members orourke
None of the above. I like the Ducan '59 for the neck position in my LP (actually I love that pickup, I wanna marry it). I'm quite happy with the Ducan Custom Custom in the bridge position of that same LP. I just put a set of SD Alnico II pickups in my old 80's G&L Superhawk, it's kind of a super strat with top loaded pickups, no pickguard and a kahler- it's an alder body with a maple/ebony neck. I really like the neck Alnico II pickup, it is absolutly beautifull sounding, very rich and well balanced. The jury is out on the bridge pickup. That's where I'm at with humbuckers right now.
