What is your new guitar to used guitar ratio?

In the course of all the guitars you've ever had, what is the ratio of guitars you've bought brand new to ones you got used?

Mine is about 2:5, but I doubt I'll buy many brand new guitars in the future. I like the little character flaws you find on used guitars. That way I don't have to worry about the first scratch being from me.

All the guitars I've ever had?

You got to be kidding. That's too much math for a Monday morning, much less too much recollecting.

For current electrics, I have 2 I bought new and 15 used. All but one of my acoustic instruments (2 guitars and a few other stringed instruments) were obtained used, so overall I'm at 17 used and 3 new.

If you factor in all guitars ever, it goes a little more in favor of new, but with used still far in the lead. I've gotten away from buying new because you get much better bang for buck used.

Ooh, I fogot about amps. Hmm, I got my Crate bass head new (on closeout in a local store) and I got my Sovtek Tube Midget head "scratch and dent," which I'll count as new, from MF. I also got a little cigarbox 1/2-Watt solid state amp from an internet buddy of mine new ($40). So that's 3 new, being generous.

All the rest were used:

Fender Super Reverb Amp (US 1966)

Sunn 200S (US 1960's)

Laney AOR 4x12 straight front cab (UK, 1980's)

Risson 4x12 slant front cab (US, 1980's)

DIY 2x12 cab Speaker cabinet made from a gutted Crate combo amp, containing two British-made V12 Celestion 60W speakers

2x8 Fender cab (another gutted combo amp)

Kustom 100 (US 1960's) matching 100 W solid state head and ported cab

Ampeg SVT bass cab (US 1970's?) 8x10

Woodson 250 (US 1970's?) matching bass head and 1x15 cab

Randall RB120 (US 1980's?) bass 125W combo amp 1x15

By my count that's 10 to 3 in favor of used over new. If I include PA stuff, used goes up even further, because I've never bought any PA stuff new. The PA stuff includes a Peavey mixer/amp head, 2 Kasino columns, 2 10" monitors, a couple ancient Peavey powered mixing boards, and a couple ancient Tapco powered mixers. Dang I can't even remember where or when I got some that crap!

By my count that gets it up to 19 used, 3 new.

;)
