Members outtahear
Why is the neck wood listed as "maple", when the pic clearly shows it's mahogany?
Members dcooper830
Why is the neck wood listed as "maple", when the pic clearly shows it's mahogany? LOL! Members Hardtail
$599 if you want to go up more. A very nice axe. But if your price range is 2-300 then more than you want (though reputed to be the quality of a much more expensive guitar) Man, thats the first Reverend I've ever liked !! Can you tell me a little bit aobut the neck contour - is it your basic medium C shape or something different ? Is it a chambered solidbody or full semi-hollowbody like an ES335 ? For 6 bills, it's worth a good look fersure. Many thanks for the tip !! HT
Members kmarsh
ANY Epiphone? That's a little farfetched. I have an AS73 but I've also played plenty of fine Epiphones. There's a great playing Casino at my local Guitar Center that I'd love to have. Fanboy. I'd stay away from Epiphone at any cost.
Members nuke_diver
Hardtail This is what it says on the site. It doesn't specify the neck shape and I only picked one up briefly so I can't really remember (I was thinking more..wow this is really nice...but I shouldn't..so I didn't but I'm still thinking about it). Warm and sweet, with the acoustic richness and complex overtones only a full size semi-hollow can deliver. The bridge pickup is slightly hotter than a vintage PAF, and the neck pickup is slightly cleaner. Round enough for Jazz, but this ray can sting too, with plenty of sustain and attack for Rock or Blues. The 1 3/4" body and flat top gives it a clean, fresh look, and yields a light and manageable instrument.Solid wood construction is featured throughout, with no plywood. The back, sides, and center block are produced from one slab of mahogany that is routed from the top, and then capped with a solid maple top. Excellent sustain and attack are coupled with substanial resonance for a uniquely big and responsive tone. BODY semi-hollow with 6 mm solid maple flat top on mahogany, and 'shooting star' f-hole. Black back and sides with cream binding. 18" x 14-5/8" x 1-3/4". PICKUPS two Reverend humbuckers, output/tone calibrated for each position. NECK glued-on, one-piece mahogany, tilt-back headstock. TRUSS ROD dual-action, access at headstock. SCALE 24-3/4". FINGERBOARD rosewood, 12" radius. FRETS 22 medium jumbo. NECK PROFILE medium oval. NUT 1-11/16" (42.86 mm) width, graphite. TUNERS Wilkinson EZ-Lock tuners. BRIDGE TOM w/ stop tail. TREMOLO (OPTIONAL) Les Trem tremolo with precision roller bridge. CONTROLS custom volume & tone, Bass Contour, 3-way. STRINGS 10-46. I suppose I should point out to Reverend that Manta Rays don't have stingers...but someone probably already has

Members Brian Krashpad
$149 is a deal for these. Set neck, Grover Tuners, Tone Pros bridge, coil split on the mini-hums. It's been so hard for me to not pull the trigger on a blue one. I don't think those are setneck though. My regular Retro-H (not the Retro-H Special with Duncan Designed mini's and coil-tap) is bolt-on, and I believe the Specials are as well. Though if I didn't already have the one that I do, I snap one of the Retro-H Specials up. My "lesser" version is a great cheapo.

Members Coralkong
You shouldn't get a low-end hollow body. Why not?Because it is probably a {censored}ing piece of junk, that's why not! PUKE. I use it as my main Jazz box and sometimes for blues.
Members tlbonehead
Here's what I have for low to moderate semis. 1. Raven RP450- It has that certain something. I love it. Replaced the pickups with GFS Dream 90's.2. Epiphone Wildkat- A real tone machine. stock alnico P90's are great. 3. Raven K2-590T- Gorgeous and pretty nice. P90s are very weak. I'll like it just fine after a pickup change.4. Washburn HB-35- Stunning for the price.5. Ibanez Artcore AXD82- nothing terrible, nothing interesting. Kinda disappointed after hearing so much good stuff about that line.6. Yamaha AEX502- ok, nothing special. Plays decent, built decent, P90s are pretty bland on it.7. Brownsville Choirboy- Cheaply made, but plays nice and has a HUGE mojo factor! toaster pickups are sweet.8. Hamer DuoTone. Very ordinary. Replaced the dreadful DD pickups with GFS Dream 180s. The piezo bridge is its main positive feature.9. Jay Turser JT-SM- Full hollow, 3P90s. Luv this guitar! All the above guitars were purchased from under $100 to under $350. Members T0MCAT
I have an Ibanez AS73, I think it's really nice, esp for 300. You could snag one for 275 OTD I would think no problem. I changed the pick ups to duncans though. My only beef is extreme upper fret access is a little tough; The horn blocks my hand a bit.
Members Surfdude
I'd stay away from Epiphone at any cost. I wouldn't go that far, however they are a little hit and miss so playing a few and choosing the best one would be preferable to buying an ebay one...especially a used one. I'd like to give it a shot but the Musicians Friend pitch says the neck is narrow to accomodate smaller hands. It's no more difficult to play for me than my Ric 620-- but I do have smallish hands. With those 2 guitars I do have to slightly adjust for the narrower nut width, but within a few minutes I'm good. Just takes a little concentration and avoiding some bad habits you can get away with with a bigger neck.
