Members Rusty_Chains
In my 8 years of playing guitar I have been modding Epi's. I love them. Right now I have a cheap Epiphone SG Special. I picked it up at a shop for $120 used but it had 2 Bill Lawrence L-500 humbuckers in it. I left the neck pickup installed, swapped the bridge out for a GFS Loudmouth, rewired it for two master volumes, and changed the crappy tuners (that broke) for mini-gotohs (makes them less neck heavy). I used to put Dimarzio Super Distortions in my Epi LPs but the stock pickups are pretty good in the higher end Epis now. I prefer the hardware on the Epis too. They have thicker bridge posts. The nuts are real high on most cheap Epis, but I play slide so I don't mind it at all.
Members hardtdc
Here's my 99' Custom Flametop. I did the Jimmy Page mod on it. Put Seymour Duncan 59' in the bridge, Jazz in the neck, 4 Alpha push/pull pots (volumes for coil splits, tones for series/parallel and phase inversion), 2 Hoveland capacitors, and also added a Tusq nut. I've put Gibson Classics in my Epi Faded SG and had to change the bridge out of necessity for better intonation.
