Strat necks - Maple or Rosewood and why...

You should have put a "both" category in your poll; that's what I would have selected. Maple is clearer and more defined, while rosewood is warmer.

Actually, my only Strat has a pau ferro fingerboard, which I suppose is like rosewood. But I would love to have a black or gold Strat with a maple board as well.

Too many guitars, not enough $$$ . . . :cry:

i voted maple simply because my tele's have maple necks and they are extraordinary. But-i wouldn't walk away from a rosewood neck either, i'm just more comfortable at this point with a maple neck.

MAPLE = 5 letters = good for pentatonic scale music i e blues


ROSEWOOD = 8 letters = good for 8 note scale music i e shred


Maple is a pale wood..rosewood is dark..almost brown wood, so sonically rosewood is also better for shred and Metal.
