Members DenverDave
I like both fingerboard woods on Strats. Which I like better depends on the guitar itself, but they are equal in my mind on a Strat. My only current Strat has a rosewood fingerboard and I really like it.... Members Procreatur
maple, strictly on appearance (does have limits w/ certain strat colors). even plain is ok, but a nice birdseye or flame looks killer. (prefer birdseye). i'm a hack player, so i'll play on anything.
Members Alecto
You should have put a "both" category in your poll; that's what I would have selected. Maple is clearer and more defined, while rosewood is warmer. Actually, my only Strat has a pau ferro fingerboard, which I suppose is like rosewood. But I would love to have a black or gold Strat with a maple board as well. Too many guitars, not enough $$$ . . .
Members rock-lobster
Maple for feel, rosewood for looks, ebony for the win..:thu:
Members falsethreats
A very close competition, but rosewood gets my vote in the end.

Members Goofball Jones
Both. But if you held a gun to my head to make me choose: Both. But if you pressed the gun it into my temple: Both. But if you really pressed hard and cocked the hammer back on the gun and said "I'm not {censored}ing around": I'd have to go with Rosewood. Members A3C
i voted maple simply because my tele's have maple necks and they are extraordinary. But-i wouldn't walk away from a rosewood neck either, i'm just more comfortable at this point with a maple neck.
Members Alecto
MAPLE = 5 letters = good for pentatonic scale music i e blues ROSEWOOD = 8 letters = good for 8 note scale music i e shred Maple is a pale wood..rosewood is dark..almost brown wood, so sonically rosewood is also better for shred and Metal.:poke: Tell that to Danny Gatton and Eddie Van Halen. :poke:
