Members WRGKMC Posted August 24, 2018 Members Share Posted August 24, 2018 Ed King—a founding member of '60s rock band Strawberry Alarm Clock and, later, a guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd—has died. He was 68 King joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1972, per Rolling Stone, and played on the band's first three albums until he "tired of the Skynyrd drama and propensity for fighting" and left the band in 1975. Members catscurlyear Posted August 24, 2018 Members Share Posted August 24, 2018 Rest in peace Ed, i saw Skynyrd at Knebworth 76 but that was after King had left , Steve Gains had replaced him as third batter at that gig ,and was unfortunatly killed in the Skynyrd air crash. Ed Kings solo on Sweet Home Alabama has to be the greatest and stratiest sound of the inbetweeny position of the pickup selector ever on record.
