The neck on Sam's guitar had a c shape to it...I was messing with it last night and compared it to the Ibanez...like comparing a closet rod to the closet shelf.

      • I tried a super soft V, and it wasn't bad at all. The ESP U isn't bad either. Really my main thing is the radius. I don't really like flatter then 12. My one Raven Ibanez copy had a 16, and I just couldn't play it lol.

I really like the ESP LTD Thin U neck profile. It is slightly flat, but mostly round.

          Plus, they are narrow...

I mostly play rhythm, and it just didn't feel right with chords. I couldn't get use to it.

It seemed VERY round to me after playing the Ibanez....the more I play it, the more I am really liking it. Shoulda bought one a long time ago.

Way too flat. And John Pats new sig guitar is 20. I don't see how he plays it.

Told ya there is a big difference

I am not sure if fretboard radius bothers me much. My 7 strings are 16" and it doesnt feel much different to me than my 12" Gibson. My Charvel has that 10"-16" tapered radius and I cant say I notice it much...

                            • I love the Charvel radius, since I do a lot of lead noodling.

I don't play many leads, so

The Charvel doesn't feel as nice to me as some of my other guitars, but I don't know if that is the radius or the neck width. Its not my favorite, but I still really like that guitar. Although, I will say I think I like it less since I put the Duncan Distortion in and tuned it down to D with 10's. That is my usual treatment, but I think the guitar lost something when I did that.

I am thinking about returning it to stock. One reason I turned it down was because it was killing my wrist in E. I thought it was the neck profile, but I found some information later on about stiff springs, so I thought about putting it back in E and go down to 2 springs or an arrow pattern. It was also extremely buzzy stock, but when I changed pickups I found that the tone zone ground was not soldered, so I think it would sound much better if I returned it to stock...
